Girls Track Returns Home as NCC Champs!
Our girls team broke Richmond's 20+ year drought as North Central Conference Champions! The math was in our favor, but on Friday night our girls team really came together and came home with the North Central Conference title! All-Conference athletes were Jenna Johnston (shot put), KK Hogg (100 meter dash, 200 meter dash), Keena Barker (1600 meter run, 3200 meter run), and the 4x100 meter relay team of KK Hogg, KK Farris-Craig, Shay Sexton, and Lily Vanlandingham.
The boys finished in fourth place and had a pair of All-Conference athletes. Jacob Lindahl (shot put) and Trevin Crosby (400 meter dash) were first-place finishers. Coincidentally, those were the only two events with 1-2 finishes from the Red Devils as well, with Masson Heiny and Antione West following up their all-conference peers.
While I was given the girls NCC coach of the year plaque, none of it would have been possible without the coaching talents of Leo Cordova, Jordan Spicer, Justin Wood, Tim Wysong, Alyssa Wysong, and our newest edition, Tra Cordova at pole vault. Points were added to our total in every single one of those areas, and it's a testament to the combined work of this team that the girls were able to come together for the win. Our boys team is a young team, only graduating two point-scorers from Friday, so the future looks bright!
Now, onto the IHSAA Sectional and the rest of the state tournament!

IHSAA Boys Sectional
NOTE THE LOCATION CHANGE. Connersville cannot host because they will not have bleachers. I believe we will be leaving the last day of school early. I will give you a report time when I confirm if we can leave early.
THIS IS CRITICALLY IMPORTANT: Despite it being the last day of the semester, you MUST attend four periods in order to attend this meet. Please don't drop the ball. We are the defending Sectional champs!

👣 Foot Notes
Google Photo Album
Here is the link to the photo album again, now with NCC pictures. I don't want to stop people from celebrating with better photos from Friday night. https://photos.app.goo.gl/tj5skwLVF3JhWzD87 If at any point people are making fun of each other with unflattering photos we'll revoke access to this and future photos. That concern was brought to us by someone which is why the link was taken down after five minutes previously.
Parent Snack Sign-Ups
Here is the link to the ongoing snack sign-up for this week's and all future meets. Please help us out by not accidentally editing anyone else's response. Having everyone's responses visible to each other seemed like the best possible method for handling this to make sure we don't accidentally over-cover or under-cover a meet. We have been provided with a wealth of Kodiak-brand protein bars (think Nature Valley style), but the fruit snacks continue to be a hit with the kids at every single meet if provided.
Attendance Policy
Track athletes are expected to be at practice Monday through Friday each week. Athletes should be communicating with their jobs about their schedule changes. A full schedule of track meets will be made available as soon as possible. If an athlete cannot make it to practice, communication is required. An athlete will receive three excused absences, after which they will meet with a coach about their attendance and further action will be determined. Parents and athletes can reach out to Coach Lambright via the Google Voice number (765) 205-2647.
Meet Schedule
I did not edit this image for the change of senior night to Monday 5/5. That meet is the date of this newsletter and features prominently, but I can edit it for the future if that is confusing/concerning to anyone.
IMPORTANT: The Regional meets are not on this schedule but are exactly one week after the corresponding Sectional meet. Athletes who qualify for Regional will be practicing despite school being over. Athletes who cannot attend the Regional meet for any reason will need to let their coaches know before the Sectional so that we can scratch from the Regional and allow other athletes to participate instead.
ParentSquare is our Official Contact Method
All parent contact should come through ParentSquare. If you are not on the ParentSquare feed for RHS track and field, please reach out to Coach Lambright at your earliest convenience. We will no longer be using Remind as Richmond Community Schools has moved to streamline parent communication and help parents not have ten different apps on their phones.
SportsYou Will Function as an Information Hub
While we would love to live in a world where we assume everyone will see all of our messages, we will continue to post workout plans and calendar events on SportsYou, something the cross country athletes and parents will be familiar with. You can join using the QR code on this paragraph, or by going to SportsYou.com and entering the code QYH8-WB4S. This will serve as a backup, always present information center, but all information on there will be duplicated here. The goal is to have one app that is always up to date, even when the next newsletter is a few days away.
