Message from Principal Higgins

Dear Academy Families & Friends,

The month of May is speeding by quickly! The last few MCAS exams will be coming up soon for Grade 3 math and Grade 5 science. Last week was an odd week with professional development on Tuesday and lots of before and after school programs, wrapped up with a schoolwide PBIS assembly on Friday afternoon. For more info on these events, please see our social media feeds. A big warm "thank you" to all of the students, staff, and families that joined us and participated in the events of last week (showcased in the picture gallery below).

This week is shaping up well. Please make sure to pay special attention to the list of important dates below as well as a the messages from the AAPC as we are now adding June activities as well. I strongly encourage families to contact them and get involved as the work they do is critical to the programs we can offer our students. After all, it takes a village (to make a school great)!

Have a wonderful day!!!!

Mr. Higgins

PBIS Rally-Whole School Outside

Every month, our school community comes together to recognize and celebrate the great things our students do. This fosters a very positive climate at Academy. This month we had a lot to celebrate...and we finally got to do it as one big family together outside on the Top Lot. Students were recognized for the Lip Sync, Praise Paw raffles, and of course, Peacebuilder Stars. Helping others was this month's theme!

Sunny Days Ahead

Last week we saw the first signs of Summer emerge. Just a reminder to families, hats, sensible footwear, sunblock, bug spray, and sitting towels are all great ideas for your kiddos to have handy for the weeks ahead. (Please remember to apply sunblock/bug spray at home)

International Resource Night!!

The long waited night of music, dance, and culture finally arrived. Once an Academy tradition and mainstay, this year it went district-wide (and did not disappoint)!!! What an incredible night and truly a time of celebration and joy for our ever-diverse Weymouth community. It was quite the event. I hope next year it gets even bigger!!!

Academy presents to School Committee

Last Thursday night, several students joined Mrs. Tuplin and Mr. Higgins and presented an update of our progress to the Weymouth School Committee. Beyond the Academics, our students shared various reports on the many programs and traditions we have come to enjoy as an Academy family!

The Walking School Buses ride Again!

AS part of our commitment to the health and wellness of our kiddos, our school hosts several WSB throughout the year. What a great way to get the body moving!

South Shore Turns 100!!!

This year, Weymouth turns 400 and SSH turns 100. Our students have been making cards for the centennial! Our cards are dedicated to the brave women and men who have kept our community healthy for the last hundred years!
