Term 2 Week 6 2026
Prayer
Loving God,
Help us this week to listen to Your voice
and follow You with open hearts.
Guide us to show kindness,
to serve others with joy,
and to grow in faith each day.
Bless our school community
and all that we do.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Our Vision and Values
From Mr Will
Dear Community Members,
Welcome to Week 6 and we are on the verge of a long weekend, which, if your family is anything like mine, is a few weeks overdue! The cooler (and now wetter) weather is settling in, and those long, hot days are a distant memory. As the wetter weather starts to roll in, we always try (if possible) to get the students out for a run at recess and lunch. As we all know, if the kids can burn off their excess energy, they are more able to concentrate and collaborate in class.
I hope you have a chance as a family to rest, relax, and reset over the long weekend.
I have been adding Dr Justin Coulson’s material to my reading list recently. This article highlights the importance of sleep. I find with the busyness of life, sleep is always at a minimum as there don’t seem to be enough hours in the day. I have been tracking my sleep for several years now and have found it fascinating how much my sleep quality impacts my overall well-being. If this impacts you as well, or you want to find out more, follow the link below:

P&F Success at Bunnings!
A huge thank you to our wonderful P&F Executive Philippa, Jenna, Gemma, Lateasha and Michelle along with the many parent volunteers (you know who you are!) for your exceptional effort at the recent Bunnings Sausage Sizzle.
A special thank you also to Mi Scusi for generously donating the drinks sold on the day. It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces from our community coming out to support the event. Thanks to your enthusiasm and generosity, we sold an incredible 909 hotdogs, smashing both our goal and the usual Bunnings benchmark of 800! Just FYI the photo of me was very set up and I take no credit for the hardwork of these wonderful people!
Reporting Update
Our Mid-Year Reports are currently being constructed by our teachers. Due to a CEWA system change, our reports will look a little different this year, but I will send a more detailed letter outlining the changes and reasons for these. At this stage, I want to make it clear that the content in your child’s report should never be a surprise. Our staff pride themselves on communicating your child’s progress effectively throughout the year. As such, you as parents now have more opportunities for communication about progress than ever before. This is demonstrated in many different forms throughout the year, but may include class newsletters or overviews, updates via SEQTA/Seesaw, 3-Way Interviews, open classes, check-ins, and meetings, whether formal or informal. If you have any questions about your child’s progress, please book a time to see their teacher.
You can’t count them on one hand!
Well last week we were treated to an exceptional display of teamwork, grit, determination and school pride. I am speaking of course of the interschool Cross Country Carnival. Scoring for this event is like golf, in the sense that the lowest score wins. 1st place gets 1 point, 2nd 2 points and so on. This means that to score well, you don’t need to win every race but your runners need to sit in the top half of the race and essentially work as a team to push each other, so one runner doesn’t fall behind. Well, I am very happy to announce that we won for the 6th year in a row! An exceptional effort. I would like to thank all those students that ran during the event and also the efforts of Mrs Royle and the Running Club, which has set up our students so well to perform confidently at the Interschool Carnival.
Hall Update
Our hall is now progressing to the point that I have been given a move-in date by the builder. Next week, the industrial fans will be installed, along with the projector and screen. Following this, the internal scaffolding will come down, and the entire space will be cleaned thoroughly. The following Monday, 8th of June, our OSHC will be able to move back in. I am very excited to be able to re-open this space for our community to use.
Library Donations
We had a question at our recent P&F meeting about the need for library book donations. Mrs Wilmot is always happy to accept book donations. She will take what is needed, and then any books that are ancillary to our needs will be passed on to the students or donated to St Vincent de Paul or similar charities.
Final Word
Tommygunn99 really went out on a limb and has reaped the rewards, sitting on 77 tips. Levi and Lord Dawson are both on 75 but in 2nd and 3rd place on margin, with Mr Wright spectacularly falling to 4th place on 74. With a bonus tip for a perfect round, I am sure this lead will change a few times before the end of the season. Freo test themselves with a trip to the Gabba this weekend (I tipped them). If they can take a lesson out of the Cats’ playbook, they will be just fine!
Until next time,
Ben

Community Notices
"Hi Families, we wanted to let you know of a fantastic new healthcare service for kids - Kinkaya is WA's first purpose-built kids and family urgent care centre that has just opened around the corner at 17 Wotan Street Innaloo (opposite Bunnings). We're sure this will help put a few minds at ease, especially with winter sports and flu season upon us! Open 8am-10pm 7 days a week, they have kid friendly pathology and will be opening their on-site X-ray in the coming weeks. There is a QR code on the poster attached if you would like to save their details for when you need them. They are purpose built for kids but the centre is open to all ages."
Zanshin Karate
We run local karate classes at Bold Park Aquatic Centre weekly on Saturdays.
Our term 2 classes are now underway, and we’d love to share this opportunity with local families who attend your school.
Would it be possible to include a brief mention of our Karate School if you have a local/community area that parents can access, or in your next newsletter if you run them?
For more information on our Karate School, class times, and what we offer, you can see our website here: Zanshin Karate Website.
