CANCELED: BOOSTER CLUB MEETING THIS WEEK
The MOHI Booster Club meeting this Wednesday, March 11th is CANCELED. The next meeting will be April 8th, which will be the last meeting of the year.
Monarch Rugby Takes on the Lindenwood Invitational!
Our Monarch Rugby boys represented the school with incredible grit and sportsmanship this past weekend, traveling to St. Louis, Missouri, for a premier tournament hosted by Lindenwood University.
❄️ Saturday: Braving the Elements
Saturday brought "true rugby weather"—bitterly cold temperatures and passing showers—but the conditions couldn't slow the Coyotes down!
The JV Squad put on a clinic, dominating the field with two convincing wins, including a massive 52–5 victory over Christian Brothers.
The Varsity Team opened the tournament strong with an 11–0 shutout over St. Thomas Aquinas (KC). They followed it up with a physical battle against a tough Bixby (Oklahoma) side, showing immense heart in their only narrow loss of the weekend.
☀️ Sunday: A Perfect Finish
Sunday delivered sunshine and even more high-caliber rugby.
The JV Squad remained unstoppable, securing two more victories to finish the weekend undefeated! Their run included a 31–0 shutout and a 32–5 win, proving the future of the program is bright.
The Varsity Team closed out their campaign with a thrilling, hard-fought 19–19 draw against St. Louis High, capping off a weekend of elite competition against some of the best teams in the region.
❤️ A Community Effort
A huge thank you to Lauren and the entire coaching staff for the seamless organization of this trip. We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to the Monarch Booster Club—the team looked sharp in their brand-new uniforms, and your financial support was instrumental in getting the boys to Missouri.
Kickoff Week: Monarch Girls Soccer Takes the Field!
🐾 Varsity: A Laser-Focused Start
The Varsity squad opened their season on Tuesday night with a thrilling 2–1 home victory against Poudre. After a scoreless first half defined by even play and a brick-wall performance from senior goalkeeper Millie Barber (7 saves), the offense ignited in the second half.
Senior Avery Kennedy broke the stalemate with a quick-thinking goal off an assist from junior Sidney Kendall. While Poudre managed to find an equalizer, senior Paloma Mellish secured the win in spectacular fashion, firing a "laser shot" into the upper right corner off an assist from junior Sophie Ilfrey.
On Thursday, the team faced a fast and physical Denver South opponent. Despite a first-half goal from sophomore Rylie Jensen (assisted by junior Lexie Slusarchyk), the Coyotes fell 1–3. Though they dominated possession in the second half, they couldn't quite find the back of the net. Currently sitting at 1-1, Varsity continues their home stretch this week against Silver Creek (Tuesday) and Skyline (Thursday).
❄️ JV: Unstoppable Momentum
The JV Coyotes opened their campaign with absolute determination, battling frigid temperatures and biting winds to secure a massive 7–0 shutout against Poudre! The offense was firing on all cylinders, featuring a balanced attack with goals from: Alex Thompson (2), Zoey Zawistowski. Leighton Buckley, Hayden Anderson, Kate Eichinger, Carolyn Estrada.
The momentum stayed high on Thursday as the JV squad earned their second straight shutout with a 2–0 win over Denver South. Goals from Bailey Hinckley and Colby Morton sealed the victory. With two games down and zero goals allowed, this JV team is showing early signs of a dominant and cohesive season ahead!
Go Coyotes! Come out and support the teams at home this Tuesday and Thursday! 🐺💪
