Off to a Great Beginning!

Dear Elmore School Families,

Welcome back to a new school year! We are excited to Welcome back our returning 2nd and 3rd graders and happy to welcome five new students. This year we have one new 3rd grader and four new 1st graders joining the Elmore School. This week our focus has been on getting to know each other and becoming familiar with school routines and expectations.

On Monday we talked about basic classroom routines and playground expectations. At the end of the day students made wishes for the school year with "wish bubbles" and then created lovely bubbles using oil pastels and watercolor paints to depict our wishes (see the photo at the top of the page!).

On Tuesday we talked about respect and students worked in small groups to create and Acrostic poem about respect. In the afternoon we began developing our math routines. We ended the day with our first Library class with Mrs. Boudreau.

On Wednesday students made "All About Me" Owls and we had discussions about what is equal vs. what is fiar. In the afternoon we dove deeper into our math routines.

On Thursday students wrote about something fun they did over the summer in their writing journals and they had their first PE class with Mr. Bressor. We ended the day by singing our school songs and celebrated the end of our first week with juice pops!

Students have Homework due on Tuesday. They are asked to fill their "owl" bag with things about them which we will share next week. They will probably need some help locating some of the items on the list (in the letter). Thank you in advance for this assistance!

The children have been reminded that "school rules" (expectations) apply on the playground afterschool. Please help monitor the playground during this time. If you notice unsafe, unkind, or inappropriate behavior , please address it with your child right away. If behaviors needs my attention, let me know. Students who are not following the "rules" may be asked to leave. I appreciate your attention.

I've updated the Meal Train for Monday family hot lunch. There is a button below which you can click on to take you to the Meal Train. Please consider signing up to bring a lunch!

Please Email me your lunch orders (menu below) by Monday at 6 pm

Hot Lunch will be available next week on Tuesday and Thursday

Just a reminder that there is no school Friday (tomorrow) or Monday for Labor Day!

Thanks for a wonderful first week! Have a terrific long weekend!

In Gratitude,

Diane Nicholls
