We want to express our immense gratitude to our PTA for organizing a delicious dinner for staff during Parent Teacher conferences. It was greatly appreciated and we enjoyed the food, desserts, and the decorations. We appreciate the thought that goes into planning and the time and effort spent creating a full experience for our staff to enjoy.

I hope those of you that were able to meet with your child/ren's classrooms found the time productive and informative.

If you have a veteran in your immediate family, we would love to have them attend our Veteran's Day celebration assembly on Tuesday, November 11th at 11:00 am. Please RSVP HERE if your veteran is able to attend. Our staff and students have created a lovely program for the assembly and we would love to honor our community Veterans if they are able to join us.

We had THE BEST day today celebrating Halloween! The costumes were fang-tastic, the weather was frighteningly good, and the classroom parties were abs-boo!-lutely amazing! Thank you to all the family members who came in to help out with classroom parties and to everyone who lined the surrounding streets to watch the parade!

For those of you heading out to "Trick or Treat" this evening, I hope you have a safe and enjoyable time.

Don't forget, the clocks fall back this weekend - enjoy the extra hour!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ellie Chin

OUR AWARD WINNING PTA (NEW POST!) OUR AWARD WINNING PTA (NEW POST!)

On Monday, October 20th, Mrs. Chin, along with PTA President Megan Worthington attended the Northwest Cook Region PTA meeting and Honor Awards ceremony.

Patton PTA was honored with three awards including Bronze Membership Status for IL PTA, Region Membership Award, and most importantly, Community Connector Award. The Community Connector award was in recognition of our Patton Spreads Joy Event, where the Patton community comes together to give back to our community during the holidays.

Congratulations to last year’s PTA President, Jamie Knapstein, our Patton Spreads Joy committee chairs, Elie Simonson, Ashley Dalton and Danielle Witkowski and all of our PTA members for these amazing recognitions. Congratulations!

Third and fifth grade students across District 25 will take parts of the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) in the coming weeks. Patton's third and fifth graders will test next week. Classroom teachers will share specific testing schedules with families in the coming days. We appreciate your efforts to limit outside appointments during scheduled testing times. Ensuring that your student gets a good night's rest and eats a healthy breakfast will prepare them to do their personal best on this assessment. Thank you!

The Patton Staff is collecting gift cards to various local stores. These gift cards will be distributed amongst the families that reply. Please contact Mrs. Donahue's confidential voicemail or email (see below) by November 21st if you are interested or if you have any questions.

Every year Mrs Hamilton collects any leftover Halloween candy and donates it to the Wheeling and Palatine food pantries. If you find yourself with lots of leftover candy and the temptation is too much to bear, please consider bringing it into the office.

The food pantries are so grateful for these donations every year.

Child Sexual Abuse Prevention lessons will begin soon at Patton. Illinois Public Act 097-1147, requires public schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention education for children in prekindergarten through twelfth grades. Age-appropriate instruction helps students recognize unsafe situations, keep themselves safe, and understand how to respond to unsafe situations. School social workers work with each grade level to provide age-appropriate information on topics such as safe versus unsafe touching, the touching rule, secrets, and reporting.

If you choose to opt your child out of the presentation, please share the form with Ellie Chin (echin@sd25.org) and Barb Donahue (bdonahue@sd25.org).

PTA REFLECTIONS 25-26: I BELONG (Updated Post!) PTA REFLECTIONS 25-26: I BELONG (Updated Post!)

Calling all Patton Panthers to participate in this year's Reflections program. Students of all grades and abilities can create works of art reflecting upon this year's theme: “I Belong.”

Students can submit their completed works of art in one (or more) of the art categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Students must individually submit artwork. Here are some ideas for how students can incorporate the theme for each category. Additionally, please carefully read through these specific PTA reflections rules and FAQs before submitting the final artwork.

Projects are due at the Patton Office on November 20th. Students are welcome to submit more than one project. Our Patton PTA proudly participates in the National PTA Reflections program, which encourages students to express themselves through the arts. Projects are completed at home. Last year, we had twenty talented students submit their works of art, and it was truly inspiring.

Please see this link to help think about the theme. Here is the link to the student entry form. You can also watch the videos below that offer insights from some of our very own Panthers who have taken part in the Reflections program before.

We look forward to all the creative entries from your student(s). Thank you again for your ongoing support.

All projects must be submitted to Patton’s main office by the end of school day on Thursday, November 20th.

Some of our Panthers who previously participated in Reflections shared about their experience to encourage other students to participate. We shared brief videos in morning announcements this week. Please view the below videos with your child if they are considering participating, but need more information or encouragement.
