TGS Teacher To Score AP Exams For The College Board
Gilbert's own Mr. Christopher Affie has been invited to be an AP Reader for AP Computer Science exams this June. AP Readers are responsible for scoring students’ free-response answers on the AP Exam or assessing a student’s portfolio. These scores are combined with performance on multiple-choice questions to determine students’ final scores of 1–5.
The Advanced Placement Program states, "In June 2025, we anticipate that over 30,000 AP teachers and college faculty will evaluate and score free-response answers from millions of students from around the world." The experience offers AP teachers and college faculty a unique opportunity to collaborate on the shared task of scoring student work.
Mr. Affie is looking forward to the experience, explaining that "This is great PD [professional development opportunity] which will help give me better insight into the performance task." Way to go, Mr. Affie!
Spring Spirit Week Begins 3/24
TGS Students Learn the Impact of Distracted Driving
On February 20 Gilbert School students participated in the Save the Life Tour in the small gym. The event featured simulations focusing on impaired and distracted driving, providing students with valuable educational experiences about the consequences of poor choices made behind the wheel of an automobile. The day-long event, attended by students in grades 10-12, offered students the opportunity to participate in exercises which demonstrate the results of careless driving habits.
