We’ve been going out to Elementary schools over the last two weeks to speak incoming 5th grade students, planning for upcoming Wildcat Welcome Night on 1/27, and preparing for registration for next year. I just want to take a moment here to remind everyone of some upcoming important registration dates:

    • School of Choice - Students who are applying to West through this process will be sent an email directly from WMS about registering AFTER a spot at West has been offered and accepted by the family. First lottery round for School of Choice comes out on February 27th.

WMS TEACHER OF THE YEAR WMS TEACHER OF THE YEAR

CONGRATULATIONS MRS. SPRADLEY

Mrs. Spradley has been selected as West Middle School’s Teacher of the Year because she exemplifies what it means to be a trusted adult, an exceptional educator, and a true partner to students and families. Her communication with families is thoughtful, consistent, and meaningful, setting a high standard for clarity, care, and collaboration. Through weekly emails and advisory updates, she keeps families informed while also celebrating the joy, generosity, and community that define West.

Beyond communication, Mrs. Spradley’s impact is felt daily in the way she supports every student who walks through her door. She meets students where they are, challenges them to grow, and provides the patience and encouragement needed to build both confidence and competence, particularly in math, a subject that can feel intimidating to many. Her willingness to reflect on her own practice, go above and beyond, whether helping a student transition late, responding thoughtfully to questions, or continuing to support students long after they’ve left her class, speaks to her deep commitment to student success.

Mrs. Spradley inspires a love of learning, fosters strong relationships, and ensures students feel seen, supported, and capable. Her compassion, professionalism, and positive leadership make a lasting difference in the lives of students and families, and we are incredibly proud to recognize her as West Middle School’s Teacher of the Year.

West Middle School Registration (2026–27)

Hello West Middle School!

It’s hard to believe we’re already looking ahead to the 2026–2027 school year! One of the most exciting parts of planning for next year is registration. If you’ve completed registration before, you’ll be happy to know that the process remains the same this year, no major changes. We’ve included all the resources you’ll need in this letter to make registration smooth, simple, and hopefully stress-free. Our goal is to ensure families and students feel informed, supported, and confident as they complete this quick process together.

Thank you for partnering with us as we continue building engaging and meaningful learning pathways for every West student. We’re excited to support you so please reach out if you need help or have questions!

CAMPUS ADMIN CAMPUS ADMIN

Hello Wildcat Families!

As we enter the 3rd Quarter, we wanted to reset some norms with the students. This week's video announcements included the following reminders. Please speak to your student(s) about these to make sure that they are hitting our C.A.R.E. value targets.

Keep Hands to Yourself

Even when playing or joking, accidents and injuries can happen! Students are reminded often to not put hands on each other to keep people safe! This includes horseplay and joking in the hallway and keeping clothing in place.

Aerosol Sprays at School

Some students are spraying cologne, perfume, or aerosol deodorants at school, causing health issues for our students and staff with asthma or allergies. Please apply these at home and leave the containers at home. Please be aware that aerosol cans or sprays are not allowed at all on district busses for similar safety reasons.

Appropriate and C.A.R.E. Language

As we get more comfortable with each other, some of our words are becoming less kind. Please be aware that harassing and discriminatory language of any kind is not tolerated and will be taken seriously. "Jokes" that demean or cause harm are not acceptable.

Hallway Expectations

Running and pushing in the hallway are not allowed and create an unsafe environment. Please move safely through the hallways and follow directives from staff as they are given.

Thank you so much Wildcats! Let's have a great 3rd Quarter.

  • Ms. Flanagan and Ms. Kusek

RIDING THE BUS RIDING THE BUS

User uploaded image

Transportation is required by CDE Regulations to account for all students on the bus and unauthorized passengers are not permitted. However, the Transportation Department recognizes that circumstances may arise, e.g. a family emergency, parents out of town, etc., when a student needs to ride home with another student on a one-time only basis. The student must get off at the assigned stop of the student they are riding with (no exceptions).

Make sure to fill out and turn in the linked Permission Slip to the Campus Admins office no later than 9:00 AM on the requested ride date. Forms can be printed and handed to the Campus Admins Assistant. Hard copies of the form can be picked up from the Campus Admins office if they are needed but must be picked up prior to the day they need to ride a different bus. No emails will be accepted. If there is an emergency, please call the Campus Admins office at 720-554-5155.

CHERRY CREEK HIGH SCHOOL CHERRY CREEK HIGH SCHOOL

Support Power Week: Giving the Power of Play to Kids in Need

Each year, Cherry Creek High School hosts Power Week, a school-wide fundraising effort benefiting Bags of Fun. Bags of Fun provides backpacks filled with games, toys, books, and other comfort items to bring joy (and the Power of Play) to children facing critical, long-term, and life-threatening illnesses.

This year, Cherry Creek High School’s fundraising goal is $67,000. While ambitious, this goal is achievable with the support of our community and we would love for our WMS families to participate!

Ways WMS Families Can Support Power Week

  • Attend the Cherry Creek High School basketball game on Tuesday, February 11 and show your support.

  • Dine out for a cause at the following participating restaurants—each will donate a portion of proceeds to Power Week:

    • February 9: Birdcall (Hampden)

    • February 10: Noodles & Company (Hampden)

    • February 11: Jersey Mike’s

    • February 12: Jet’s Pizza (Holly)

    • February 13: Torchy’s Tacos (Arapahoe)

Additionally, WMS students will have opportunities to support Power Week through school-based activities, including student-led fundraising efforts (more details to come).

Thank you for helping our students make a meaningful impact and bring joy to children who need it most! 💙
