Week of Monday, August 18, 2025
π£ Families! Here's What's Happening This Week:
Welcome back, Toquam Elementary parents!
We hope you and your children had a wonderful and relaxing summer. The new school year is just around the corner, and we are so excited to welcome our students back!
As we prepare for another great year of learning and growth, we want to invite you to our annual welcome-back event. Our strong home-to-school partnership is a huge part of what makes our school community so special. We invite all families to join us for a STAFF versus PARENTS volleyball game and a free pizza truck lunch on Thursday, August 21st, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. It's a great opportunity to connect with other families and our amazing staff.
We also want to remind everyone about the importance of getting our scholars back into a healthy school routine. Starting now, you can help by getting them into the rhythm of going to bed and waking up early. This will help ensure they are rested and ready to learn each day.
We can't wait to see you on Thursday for some pizza, volleyball, and fun!
In partnership,
Principal Brooks

Download the parent registration guide (English) (Spanish) for detailed instructions with graphics.
Attendance Matters π
Starting in preschool and kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school. β’ Missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder to learn to read.
β’ Students can still fall behind if they miss just one or two days every few weeks.
β’ Being late to school may lead to poor attendance.
β’ Absences and tardiness can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up.
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about schoolβand themselves. Start building this habit in preschool so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Eventually good attendance will be a skill that will help them succeed in life.
