Week 6
September 14 - September 18, 2026

Happy Rosh Hashanah!
To our families who celebrate, Happy Rosh Hashanah!
Rosh Hashanah is a Jewish holiday that celebrates the New Year. It is a special time for families to come together, reflect on the past year, and look forward to making positive choices in the year ahead.
Many families celebrate by eating apples and honey to wish for a sweet new year, and they may listen to the special sound of the shofar, a traditional musical instrument made from a ram’s horn.
Rosh Hashanah reminds us that each new year is an opportunity for a fresh start, to be kind, make good choices, learn from the past, and do our best.
We invite our students to learn more about the meaning and traditions of Rosh Hashanah by watching the learning video below.

25 Days of School
Thursday, September 17th
Our first attendance milestone is here! We will celebrate on Thursday with a Magic of Disney Day! Wear anything Disney-themed and get ready for a day filled with fun activities at school!
Disney Trivia: Ms. Ganek has prepared a Disney Trivia quiz for all students to participate in.
Find a Disney Character: Mrs. Melgar will be hiding Disney characters all around campus. Find one, turn it in, and win a prize! There will be 25 hidden characters and 25 prizes, so keep your eyes open!
Cougar Kiosk Debut: We’re also excited to debut our Cougar Kiosk! Bring all of your Cougar Cash with you and see what you can purchase with your hard-earned attendance dough! Your teachers will bring students as a class to redeem their cash. OR students may choose to save it for something bigger later.
Let’s celebrate our great attendance and have a magical day!
School Tours
It's that time again! We are always recruiting for exceptional families to join our cougar team. If you know of any families looking for a school specifically for KINDERGARTEN or SECOND grade next school year, send them a photo of our tour dates so they can see for themself.

Blackboard Connect
If you've opted out of the LAUSD messages (text, email, or phone) you will not get any Arroyo messages either. Unfortunately there isn't a feature to opt into Arroyo and opt out of LAUSD.
If you have not been getting our emails or text messages AND would like to, you can opt back in by calling 855-502-7867 for any phone number that was previously opted out. Parents can choose to opt back in to receive text messages by texting "START LAUSD" TO 91841.
We try to also provide updates on Class Dojo, however, that is not our official form of communication. When we have events like minimum days or early dismissal, I will usually send a text message through blackboard so it's immediate notification.
