Hello Glennwood Crew,
What a wonderful week it has been! We loved welcoming our students back from Fall Break and seeing all those smiling faces ready to learn. Our Eagles did an incredible job jumping right back into “school mode,” showing great self-control and responsibility as they reconnected with classroom routines and school-wide expectations. We are so proud of the way they soared right back into learning!
Parent-Teacher Conferences are currently underway, and I want to send a heartfelt thank you to the many families who have already connected with their child’s teacher. These conversations are such an essential part of our home-school partnership, keeping us aligned on your student’s academic growth and social-emotional development. As the cooler autumn weather sets in, we also ask that you please take a moment to label all sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, and coats with your child's name. Our playground and lost-and-found tend to collect quite a heavy jacket collection this time of year, and clear labels make it so much easier for us to return lost items quickly to their proper owners.
Literacy is center stage at Glennwood right now as both Georgia Reads and Dyslexia Awareness Month are in full swing! Today, our students enjoyed a special read-aloud from our Superintendent, Dr. Whitaker, in celebration of Georgia Reads Day, and tomorrow afternoon we are thrilled to host a special guest author visit for our Eagles. Next week, and for the remainder of the month we have some really fun activities and surprises planned for our youngest eagles. As part of CSD’s district-wide awareness efforts for World Dyslexia Day, we encourage all students and staff to wear red on Thursday, October 8 to show support for learners with dyslexia.
Looking ahead to next week, don't forget that Picture Day is next Tuesday, October 6! We can’t wait to see our Eagles dressed to impress and bringing their big smiles for the camera.
Thank you for all the ways you continue to partner with us, engage in our school community, and support our Crew. Let’s keep soaring together!
In partnership,
Bill Howard

Boys in Action 2026-27
Boys In Action is an after-school program designed to provide our boys with opportunities to build leadership, friendships, confidence, goal-setting skills, and a strong sense of belonging while having fun and growing together.
The program will meet every other Thursday from 2:50–3:50 PM, beginning Thursday, October 8, 2026. We will meet in the Media Center.
Our theme for Boys In Action this year will be “Our Boys Will Be SEEN.”
SEEN represents our commitment to making sure every boy feels Seen, Encouraged, Empowered, and Noticed. We want our boys to know that they matter, their voices are important, their strengths are recognized, and that they have a place where they can be themselves, build meaningful relationships, and grow into confident young men.
