A Message from Principal Daliposki A Message from Principal Daliposki

Dear Families,

As November draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the season of gratitude and keep you informed about important updates and events in our school community.

First, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your ongoing support and partnership. Together, we continue to create a nurturing and inspiring environment for our students to learn and grow.

Thanksgiving Recess: A reminder that Thanksgiving Recess will be observed from Thursday, November 27 through Friday, November 28. School will resume on Monday, December 1. We wish you a warm and joyous holiday filled with love and gratitude!

Colder Weather: As the temperatures begin to drop, we encourage all families to ensure their children are dressed appropriately for the weather. Warm jackets, hats, and gloves are essential for outdoor activities and recess. Please label all items with your child’s name to avoid them getting misplaced. If your child has misplaced their jacket, please visit our lost and found, which is located in the auditorium.

Parent-Teacher Conferences: Our Parent-Teacher Conference is scheduled for Thursday, December 4. Students will be dismissed early at 11:30 a.m. to accommodate the conferences. This is a wonderful opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and collaborate on their continued success. If you haven’t scheduled a conference yet, please reach out to your child’s teacher at your earliest convenience.

As we transition into the final month of the year, let’s continue working together to make every day a meaningful and enriching experience for our students. Thank you for all you do to support our school community.

Communication:

For all up-to-date information, please visit our website (www.ps199q.org).

If you have any questions at all, please reach out to our parent coordinator, Ms. Becco, at SBecco@schools.nyc.gov.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Warm regards,

Mr. Daliposki

A. Important Message from Ms. Becco

Dear Falcon Families

As the end of the year approaches and the holidays are quickly coming upon us, I think of all the things we could be grateful for this year. I am quickly thinking about how grateful I am for my family, my home and my job. During this holiday season, take a little time to give thanks for the things that make life livable and enjoyable.

We have so much happening in our building right now. Parents, you should have received an email from Lifetouch photographers about your children’s portraits that were taken on November 17th. The picture retake day is Friday, January 16, 2025.

We are continuing our nutrition and cooking classes with City Harvest on Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. Parents have been invited to participate in a class that is very similar to what their children are learning, including learning how to make healthy dishes at home. November 30th marks the end of the Miss Chocolate Catalog Sale. We are very close to our $5K goal. If everyone purchases one item from the catalog, I’m sure we will surpass our target amount.

The Middle School Application will close on December 12, 2025. If you have any questions about the process, please call the school and ask for Ms. Becco or Ms. Colchamiro.

Kindergarten Application opens on December 9, 2025. We will have Open Houses on December 2, 2025, at 8:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and a virtual session on December 9th at 5:00 p.m. Please be on the lookout for emails about upcoming information sessions.

Please join me in handmaking a gift for your child/ren for the holidays on December 5th and 12th at 8:45 a.m.

On Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 8:45 a.m., PTA board member Khulood Haimed demonstrates how simple it is to make homemade fry bread for the family. Take home your own dough to make at home. It’s sure to be a tasty time.

Don’t miss our 3rd Annual Potluck Celebration on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. The flyers have been sent home, so please check your child’s backpack.

I wish everyone a lovely and happy Thanksgiving.

Sunnyside After School Sunnyside After School

Message from Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos Message from Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos

Dear Families and Colleagues,

We are quickly approaching Thanksgiving, and I’ve been filled with a deep sense of gratitude for our NYC Public Schools community. As Chancellor, I have the privilege of engaging with that community every single day, from visiting schools and classrooms to meeting with our families. And while we are the largest district in the nation, we maintain a strong sense of care and warmth, because our community works tirelessly to ensure that every child is cherished, understood, and supported.

To our staff members: Your expertise and commitment are what make our system run. You serve in a vast array of roles across our city, but you are united in the goal we all share: delivering bold futures for our students. I believe this work is both a privilege and a responsibility, and I know you feel the same way. Thank you for all you do.

To our families: You are our true partners and our students’ first teachers. Whether you are signing up for a parent leadership position or reading with your child in the evenings, you play an essential role in the development and success of our young people. Thank you for trusting us with your children and for choosing NYC Public Schools.

To our students: You are the reason why we are here. You are learning and growing each day, and we are so proud of your progress. Thank you for giving your best effort in everything you do. We are here to cheer you on, both in and beyond the classroom.

And to all those in our communities who help our schools deliver equity and excellence, thank you. I’m honored to do this work alongside you. I hope you can spend this season with loved ones and get some well-deserved rest.

In partnership,

Melissa Aviles-Ramos

Chancellor
