Bubble Run

Our annual FUN RUN is THIS Friday!
It's gonna be bubble-tastic!
Students and their teachers will run/walk a bubble-blasting, suds-sational, non-competitive obstacle course.
Participation is optional, but highly encouraged. Students will burst through bubble streams and mega bubbles, navigate challenges, and be cheered on by volunteers at by-passable stations. The finale involves a foam blaster and blow drying lane to the finish line. Students will be squeaky clean!
It's sure to be sudsy and un-foam-gettable!
*Sunglasses and shirts will be provided before the race. Please send your student to school in layerable clothing on Friday. The PTA is unable to get the shirts until late Thursday afternoon due to a delay by the vendor. We apologize for this inconvenience!
**See FAQs for information about the event, clothing, spectators, bubble solution and foam.
WE DID IT!
$20,000 Fundraising Goal Popped!
Our Pioneer Community is amazing! Thanks to your generosity, we've raised almost $24,000.
Where does the $20,000 go? This goal allows PTA to fulfill it's annual budget to support 26 classrooms, Specials classrooms, resources & intervention, school-run student programs, before/after school programs and numerous events. And, we can fund a second field trip for each grade!
But we raised more! The PTA membership will vote on how to allocate the extra earnings at the November PTA meeting. We now have the opportunity to help the school pay for additional bussing needs (grade level performance rehearsals at CPAC), to cover increasing Pumathon costs, and/or put funds towards next year's after school musical!

FAQs
Families will be notified should details change before October 2.
When is it?
Friday, October 2
Approximately 2 pm to end of day; classes will participate in waves.
Where?
Pioneer School of the Arts, Fields
Can parents and family members come watch the run?
No, spectators and guests are not allowed during school. However, you CAN volunteer at the event and also cheer on the students.
If I volunteer, can I bring my younger children?
No. Unfortunately, we cannot allow unenrolled children on school campus during school day activities. We follow West Ada School District protocols.
What should my child wear?
The free event shirts will be provided for the Bubble Run. Students should wear weather-appropriate, comfortable shorts or pants and shoes for running. We highly encourage students (and volunteers) to wear bright, neon clothing.
Will my student get wet?
It depends. We do not intend for students (or volunteers) to get soaked. However, they will get damp as they run through bubbles and foam. Students will not be having extended play -time in wet foam. They will be guided and encouraged to keep moving through the stations - including the final foam blasting station - until they have reached the leaf blowers and finish line.
*At the teachers' discretion, you may send your student to school with a towel and/or second pair of shoes/socks.*
What kind of bubbles will be used?
Most bubble stations will use non-toxic bubble solution such as Target's Sun Squad or a homemade solution of water, Dawn dish soap and a small amount of glycerin or corn syrup. Some bubbles may also contain Guar Gum.
Who is providing the Foam Blaster (final station)?
We are working with Treasure Valley company, Foam Atomic, to set up, run, and clean up one or two foam blasters for our bubble run finale.
Is the foam safe?
Yes! According to Foam Atomic's website, their foam solution is hypoallergenic, non-toxic, dye-free, non-staining, biodegradable and gluten-free! The foam will not have color in it. Their foam safety sheet is attached at the bottom of this newsletter.
What safety precautions are you taking?
- The first school-wide earning goal, when reached, will provide all students with sunglasses to protect their eyes from bubbles and foam.
- Volunteers will encourage students to close their eyes/keep sunglasses throughout the course.
- Participation in this physical event is completely voluntary. Students may choose to run/walk all or parts of the course. Or, they may choose to cheer on their classmates from a distance. They will receive the shirt and a popsicle even if they do not participate.
What if my child has asthma, allergies, skin sensitivities, or other condition?
Student participation is at the discretion of the parent. Not all stations will have bubbles . Please consider if there is additional protocol that needs followed (face shield, inhaler, long sleeves/pants, etc.) and then let your student's teacher know if your child will not be participating in parts or all of the event.
