The Trojan Triumph

October was an exciting month at Centerburg High School . We had two teams (volleyball and football) win the KMAC. We had two cross country runners (Payton Tucker and Andrew Dickhof) compete in the state cross country meet. Off the field, we had two students' artwork accepted into the highly competitive Otterbein Art Show. We had 24 middle and high school students selected to perform in the OMEA District Ten Honors Choir. We had 18 students inducted into the Ohio Scholars' Association. Academically, we had 206 students on the Honor Roll for the first quarter. We also hosted the Knox County Health Expo where students got to learn about careers in the health field. Great things are happening at Centerburg. Let's keep the momentum going!

College Credit Plus (CCP) Night- November 11

Thanksgiving Break- November 26 - December 1

• Senior students and parents, here is a link to the Senior Countdown. It contains a month by month detailed description of what senior students need to be doing in order to prepare for graduation and life after graduation.
• Seniors: If you have not already done so, please ask a staff member, coach, manager at work, etc to write a letter of recommendation for you. Scholarship season is around the corner and you will need to have this completed.

• Seniors: Some of you have requested your transcript for college applications and such. Please know that if you have taken a CCP class, your FINAL transcript for those classes will need to travel directly from that college to your future college. Each institution is different and will have directions on the website.

• Underclassmen: 10th graders - trip to KCCC on Nov. 18th, followed by the "First Chance Night" on Nov. 20th @ KCCC. First opportunity to apply!

• Freshmen: Push hard all the way through to Christmas break! Your 1st semester will be the most important in establishing a great GPA! Remember, Q1 & Q2 are averaged together.

• College Credit Plus (CCP) Informational Night will be on November 11th. If you have a high school student who plans on taking CCP in the spring or next year, this is a mandatory meeting.

Congratulations to the following students for being chosen as October's Students of the Month: Arianna Mckee, Logan Johnson, Jaelynn Caldwell, and Audrey Carlisle. Also, congratulations to Ms. Mandy Gross for being name Staff Member of the Month for October.

We had over eighty students earn over 100 PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports) points for the first quarter. The student council and the FFA officers decided that these students should be rewarded with donuts and apple cider. These students enjoyed getting out of class for a few minutes to get some fresh air and some yummy food. Keep up the good work students!

Both the Varsity Volleyball Team the the Varsity Football Team were the KMAC league champions. The football team also won the FreddieBurg Trophy by defeating Fredericktown 82-0. Congratulations!

This is a reminder that students are not permitted to have their cell phones on during the instructional day (8:16am - 2:54pm). The first time a student is caught with their cell phone, it will be taken to the office and returned at the end of the day. The second time a student is caught, the phone will be taken to the office and a parent or guardian will have to pick it up after 2:54pm. After the second offense, the phone will need to be picked up by a parent and Saturday School will be assigned to the student. If you need to contact your student, call the office and we will get a message to your student.
