May 22, 2026

Dear Mary Hogan Families,

What an awesome week it has been! A highlight of my week was seeing so many of your faces at Field Day and our Celebration of Learning. The energy and the joy on our students' faces made it clear just how much your presence means to them — and to help make these fun events successful. Thank you to every person who volunteered their time for field day and field trips this week (and in the past!). Moments like these remind me why Mary Hogan is such a special school to be at.

In this last week of May, I want to encourage you to recognize our fabulous teachers and staff (this form for appreciations, this form for Teacher/Staff of the Year). There is only only for one more week to do this!

Whether it's a big gesture or a small, quiet act of kindness that made a difference for your child, we want to hear about it. Please take a moment to nominate someone who has made your child and/or family feel seen, supported, or simply smiled at on a hard day. These incredible people are the heart of our school — let's make sure they know it!

💙, Jen

Field Day Was One for the Books!

Field Day was an absolute blast, bringing together students for a jam-packed celebration filled with energy, laughter, and friendly competition. Students enjoyed a huge variety of activities, from art and lawn games to dancing, parachute fun, and relay races — plus crowd favorites like kickball, big ball soccer, and steal the bacon.

The excitement was non-stop from start to finish, and none of it would have been possible without the tremendous support of our amazing community. A huge shout-out to our dedicated organizers - Casey McDonough, Cyndi Palmer, and Stephanie Bull - and the more than 40 volunteers who gave their time and enthusiasm to make the day so special — your efforts made all the difference, and it truly showed!

Harvest of the Month - Eggs

The May Harvest of the Month is Eggs. In an informal survey of how folks at school feel about hardboiled eggs, most people enjoyed eating them. One kindergarten class had an egg taste test this week. Mrs. Schondube's class tried hard boiled eggs that Steve made for them. For some, it was their first taste of them. Everyone got to decide how they felt about this type of eggs.

How do you like your eggs?

Celebrating Learning

Our First Celebration of Learning Night was a truly joyfilled evening that brought our community together in the best way!

Over 250 people turned out to experience a night of inquiry and reflection. Families explored student work displayed throughout the halls, got hands-on with Bee Bots, put their math skills to the test, and could see 100s of photos from the school year. PE activities kept the energy high, and everyone enjoyed taking part in a school-wide scavenger hunt that was focused on the IB learner profile attributes.

The scavenger hunt ended with a tasty treat out on the playground — the perfect sweet ending to a great night. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate our incredible learners!
