Student Requests to Call Home (ROAR Expectations)
At Wildwood, we encourage students to Respect themselves and others, Offer kindness and encouragement, Always do their best, and be Ready to learn each day. To support these goals and protect instructional time, students will not be permitted to leave class to call home for forgotten items such as homework, backpacks, water bottles, or other school materials. These situations provide meaningful opportunities for students to practice responsibility and problem-solving.
During recess, students may request to call home only for food-related reasons, and only if they are choosing not to eat the school-provided breakfast and/or lunch. Calls home will not be permitted for forgotten non-food items. We appreciate families’ partnership in helping students build strong morning routines so they arrive at school prepared, confident, and ready to ROAR.
Warmly,
Your Wildwood Staff

Seniors Welcome at Wildwood
Do you have a parent, grandparent, or special adult in your family who enjoys working with kids and getting a little creative? We’d love their help with our CREATE Program! Every Wednesday during first recess, students have the option to visit the MPR to design and build with recycled materials—and we’re looking for a few friendly volunteers to assist with simple cutting, taping, and lots of encouragement. Volunteers are needed from 9:15a.m.–10:45 a.m. every Wednesday. If you know a grandparent or senior citizen in our community who might enjoy being part of this joyful, hands-on experience, please pass along the invitation and contact the school for more information.
Wildwood Talent Show Update
If your child auditioned for the Talent Show, they should have received a letter on Friday. Here are a few reminders:
- The top page is for your reference about practice, dress rehearsal, and the show.
- Please return the second page to the front office by Wednesday, February 11th. This is necessary for your child to be able to stay after school one day for practice. Be sure to note your child’s practice day and time. There is only one practice, and they need to stay for the entire practice on that day in order to be in the show.
- The yellow page is for ticket pre-sale orders. You can order up to 4 tickets per family. Please return this with your cash donation to the front office any time between February 9th and February 23rd. All remaining tickets will go on sale in the front office on a first come, first served basis beginning Wednesday, February 25th until the show sells out.
- If music is needed for your act, please email an MP3 version of the song to Mrs. May (michellemay@conejousd.org) by Tuesday, February 10th. Please see the video directions below if you need help converting it to an MP3.
- All props that you plan to use for the show must be at your practice. No props will be added on February 27th.
Thank you for your cooperation! We are looking forward to a fun show!
All music will need to be converted to MP3 files. Here's a YouTube video to guide you in how to do this. All music will need to be emailed to Michelle May at michellemay@conejousd.org in MP3 file format by February 10.

Shoe Tying Recognition
During the next few weeks, the principal will be out at many recesses handing out small prizes to TK-2nd grade students who demonstrate their ability to tie their shoes. Since success is a series of small victories, please be practicing with your young Tigers so they can claim this victory and win a prize.
Help Us Retain Our Crossing Guard – Walk or Ride to School!
We have been informed that the City of Thousand Oaks annual school crosswalk pedestrian counts will begin on Tuesday, February 24. They will be monitoring our Arboles/Velarde crosswalk usage in late-February and early-March to assess the need for crossing guards in future school years. To ensure we meet the required threshold during the count, we encourage as many students as possible to walk, bike, or ride scooters to school and utilize this crosswalk during this period.
Your participation helps demonstrate the importance of maintaining safe routes to school for our students. Thank you for your support in keeping our community safe and thriving!
