Winter 2025 Navigating Research to Practice

The MESD Early Literacy Network is focusing this Winter edition on bringing research to practice for educators. When reviewing Oregon's new online report cards and the recently released Nation's Report Card from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) data, it is clear that implementing research and evidence-based practices is absolutely critical to improving reading outcomes for Oregon students.

Two highlights in this issue are a refresher on the reading brain and links to several Institute of Education Sciences (IES) guides, many are referenced in Oregon's Early Literacy Framework, and the soon to be released Adolescent Literacy Framework. IES guides are an accessible way for educators to understand what research into classroom practices looks like.

Before reading on...let your voice be heard. 📣 Please complete the live one-poll question below to help MESD understand what type of professional learning works best for you.
