Corron Mission Statement

Corron is a safe, warm and inviting community where all are valued and empowered. We celebrate growth. Clear evidence highlights the impact we have academically, socially and emotionally.

From the Principal From the Principal

Welcome back, Corron families! The first two days of the 25-26 school year have been amazing! Our students have been learning what it means to “Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Responsible and Be You” across our building each day. They’ve met with support staff in the lunchroom, on the playground and in various other locations to ensure that everyone has the same expectations and we can all help each other to be successful here at Corron.

Today we had an all school assembly to review these expectations as well as launch our theme of “The Learning is the Reward”. Students know that while school is a fun place to be with their friends, their biggest job is to learn and grow their brains. I’m excited to see all that they accomplish this school year!

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. I am here to partner with our families each and every day.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Daily Arrival: Students will be able to enter the building through 2 locations this year. These locations are the front door (#1) and the door by the back playground (#8). Families can choose the drop off location that works best for them. Students will be allowed to enter the building at 8:50 and will head down to their classrooms at that point. There will be adult assistance for the first few weeks for students who need help finding their way. Supervision will begin at 8:50, so please do not drop off your child before that time.

  • Front parking lot: this will continue to be a drive up area where parents remain in their cars and drop students off in the unloading zone. Students can exit the car in the areas that have a yellow painted curb. There will be staff members present each day to help move traffic along. The bus circle is reserved for buses only.

  • Back of building: Parents are allowed to park in the Park District lot and walk their child to the sidewalk. There is no drive up lane to drop and go, as this causes unsafe conditions.

Daily Pick Up: Our Kindergarten and 1st grade classes will be exiting at the front of the building. All other grade levels will exit from door 23 (south side by the field). Your child’s teacher may send a specific dismissal door for their class based on their location. Parents can meet their children near any of these areas. For our K-2 students, please let your child’s teacher know how your child will be getting home and/or who will be picking them up. If you need to change your child’s plans for dismissal, please email the teacher and then call the office so we can ensure that we know about the change.

Pick up is at 3:25 - there is no after-school supervision provided once dismissal ends.

There are no dogs allowed on school property during drop-off or pick up.

Important Information About Student Attendance/Vacation Policy Changes Important Information About Student Attendance/Vacation Policy Changes

Regular school attendance is one of the most important factors in your child's academic success. When students attend school consistently, they benefit from:

  • Continuous learning that builds upon previous lessons and concepts

  • Classroom discussions and activities that cannot be replicated at home

  • Social connections with peers and teachers that support overall development

  • Established routines that help create structure and stability

  • Opportunities to participate in collaborative projects and group learning

We understand that occasional absences are unavoidable, and we want to work with you to ensure clear communication about your child's attendance.

Attendance Procedures

When Your Child is Going to be Absent

  • Please call the school office as early as possible on the day of absence (attendance line is open 24/7)

  • If you're unable to speak with someone directly, you may leave a voicemail message stating the reason for your child's absence

  • Important: If we don't hear from you, we will contact you to confirm the absence and ensure your child's safety

Reporting Process:

  • Provide your child's full name, teacher/grade, and reason for absence (please include major symptoms with illnesses)

  • Contact information: School phone number - 331-228-6900

  • Office hours: 7:30-4:00

UPDATED INFORMATION ABOUT VACATION DAYS

We want to inform you of an important change to our attendance procedures. The District has recently updated Section 2.20 of the Student Handbook regarding student absences.

NEW VACATION POLICY:

  • The pre-arranged absence form and procedure are no longer in use

  • Vacations during school days are discouraged and will be considered unexcused absences

  • This change aligns with our commitment to maximizing instructional time for all students

We recognize that families sometimes need flexibility for travel or special circumstances. While we strongly encourage scheduling family trips during school breaks and holidays, we understand that this isn't always possible. We ask for your partnership in minimizing absences during the school year whenever feasible.

Working Together

Our goal is to support your child's educational journey while maintaining clear attendance expectations. If you have questions about attendance policies or need to discuss specific circumstances, please don't hesitate to contact the school office. We're here to work with you to ensure your child's success. Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education.

Birthdays Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays at Corron. Your child’s birthday will be announced on our morning announcements on the day of his or her birthday or before the weekend/summer. We do not allow in food or other items for birthday celebrations, so please do not send anything to school with your child. Some of our classrooms have a tradition of inviting parents or other special guests on the day of the birthday to read a book. Classroom teachers will be sharing that information in their class newsletters.
