Meet Ms. Price!

College: I graduated from Temple University about a year ago where I earned my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education and Development. There, I lived in Philadelphia for three years. In my last year of college, I completed my student teaching here at Stonehurst! It was such a wonderful experience. I'm hoping to go back to Temple again to get my masters degree within the next few years.

Years Teaching: This is my very first year teaching! I was so excited to come back to Stonehurst as part of the reading team to start my career. I love teaching and helping students grow their academic skills.

About Me: I originally grew up in a small town outside of Houston, Texas, but I currently live in Aston, Pennsylvania. Outside of school, I love spending time with my two dogs and listening and learning about music. When it isn’t so cold outside, I enjoy going on hikes and exploring nature, as well. In the spare time I have, I help out at a retirement community in Newtown Square.

Happy February, Stonehurst Family! My name is Mrs. Sanders and I am the School Social Worker at Stonehurst. This is the Mental Health Monthly section of the newsletter. The goal of the section is to reduce the stigma associated with mental health and provide quick tips, information, and resources related to mental and behavioral health. I look forward to promoting and supporting the mental health of the Stonehurst community. Please remember that this content is for informational purposes only and she should not be considered a substitute for professional advice or consultation with mental health professionals. If you need help finding mental health professionals in your community, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. This month’s topic is Healthy Friendships!

Simon B. Rhymin Final Project

Kemoi Shoatz (Rap about his best friend.):

o, let me tell you 'bout a brother, yeah, a real one, Dontae

Always keeping it pushing, never looking for a runway

If you need a solid homie, he’s the one to go and find

Leave the drama in the past, he’s the definition of a grind.

From the city to the streets, he’s making moves, making noise

Bringing loyalty and faith, yeah, he’s one of the boys

Never switchin’ up the style, always staying truly true

If you’re lookin’ for a legend, then Dontae is overdue.

For Black History Month, students voted on books to add to the library!

Miss. Kings class making model pollinators in their first unit of science. Students learned that pollinators help plants reproduce. Plants and animals have a mutual relationship where they depend on each other. Jose made a bat which pollinates saguaro cactuses, Devyn made a butterfly which lands on colorful flowers because the butterfly is attracted to the colorful petals. Also, Leyana and Aiden made helliconia plants which are pollinated by purple neck hummingbirds.

This month, our Multilingual Math mentors met with the ELL teachers to reflect on their mentees’ progress and celebrate their growth. With every mentee demonstrating meaningful improvement, the mentors participated in additional training on how to implement new math materials effectively. They’ve restocked their bags and are excited and ready to continue teaching!
