Miller Elementary Weekly Update
For the Week of November 10, 2025
Hello Miller Families!
I hope your family had a fantastic week and you've adjusted to our recent time change! If you haven't heard around town, our Aurora High School Boys Soccer Team is heading to the State Championship for the first time in program history! Here in the Aurora community, children have access to a variety of programs from soccer to football, basketball to wrestling, baseball and softball, and so much more! At a young age, they can learn the importance of team work, developing their talent and skills, and developing resiliency. We want to wish the AHS Boys Soccer Team and Coach Kastelic all the best this weekend at the State Championship! You have a community that is very proud of you! Some families have asked about ticket sales so we have included the link below. I have also attached the Aurora Parks & Recreation website below as they recently released their winter flyer which includes a variety of winter programs and activities!
On, Monday we will be holding our Picture Retake Day. Please see the important reminder about how to order first time picture packages or how to return your unwanted pictures to indicate you want their picture retaken. If you send back their pictures, we will know to snag your child for retakes. Thank you!
Finally, I have included some important reminders about preparing for colder weather! I'm in denial that snow is in the forecast for next week but it's important for you to know we still take children outside for recess! I have included our recess guidelines and a reminder to send in a warm coat, hats, gloves and snow gear (when needed). I have also included an important reminder about 2-hour delays for Miller Elementary. If inclement weather should occur and school could potentially be delayed or canceled, you will receive a phone call through our call system, a Final Forms message from our Superintendent Dr. Milcetich or you can check our local news stations.
Have a wonderful weekend and LET'S GO GREENMEN SOCCER!
Kindly,
Maria Goodman

Picture Retake Day - Monday, November 10th
School pictures have arrived and all picture packages have been passed out to anyone that placed an order. Our picture retake day will be on Monday, November 10. This will be an opportunity for first time pictures as well as any retakes. If your child is taking photos for the first time, please use the link below to order a picture package. If you wish to exchange your Child's portraits from the original Picture Day for their Retake Day portrait. Please return the entire package (including the portraits) with your child on Retake Day. Any unreturned portraits or incomplete packages will not be processed. You must call Customer Service for additional support.
The class composite will be sent home once Ripcho has all retakes wrapped up and every child can be included.
AEPTO Giving Tree Project - Parent Letter Will Be Sent Home 11/7 or 11/10
Outdoor Recess in the Winter Months
Can you believe the temperatures are getting cooler and snowflakes will be coming soon! Many families begin to have questions about our outdoor recess policy when it gets cold and the snow starts to fly. Our full-day students will continue to go outside if the feels like temperature is between 15 and 20 degrees or higher. We watch the weather closely as it is important for our children to get outside, run around, and enjoy some fresh air. The playground is a great place to practice social skills such as turn taking, problem solving as well as how to communicate with their friends. Plus, when the snow comes, it provides some fun experiences to build snowmen or use our sleds down our playground hills!
We recommend a warm coat, hats, gloves, snow pants, and boots (when necessary). We work with all children to help them learn how to dress themselves independently and in the correct order. (Snow pants, boots, jacket zipped, hat, and gloves are last). Please make sure all your child's items are labeled with their name. It is important that you check their book bag for an extra set of clothes and socks that match the new season. Children would rather wear their change of clothes if an accident occurs. Please have your child practice putting on their snow gear at home too!

School Counselor Updates
Hello Miller Families,
I hope you’re enjoying the sunshine! This past week during our lessons, all Kindergarten classes did a wonderful job of reviewing bathroom procedures as well as practicing walking in the hallway from lunch to recess-both simple procedures, but beneficial to practice. Ask your Kindergartener how they can be a role model for others and what the expected behaviors are for each task! They’ll be sure to let you know they go, flush, wash, and leave when using the bathroom and use a calm body, walking feet, quiet voice and ensure they’re respecting the personal space of others when walking in the hallway.
In addition to supporting your students, I am always here to support families. Miller Elementary partners with our PTO to assist families with financial needs. By reaching out via this form, phone, email, or in person, we can help with funds for Book Fairs, the Holiday Shop, holiday gifts, Thanksgiving “baskets,” winter clothing, yearbooks, school supplies, or any other need. Please don’t hesitate to contact me—simply let me know what you need, and I’ll connect you with the right support!
Warmly,Mrs. Lindsey Ambrosia

Miller Attendance & Transportation Reporting Form
In all our Elementary Buildings, we utilize a Google Form to report attendance, late arrival, early dismissal, and change of transportation such as switching from a bus rider to office pick-up!
To report an absence or change your child to a car rider or bus rider, please click the button below or scan the QR code magnet that we will pass out at Open House. This can be done from any device and your reply will be sent immediately to our secretary, Mrs. Toler.
If your child will be absent, you will use this form to report the absence along with the reason for the absence. We are working really hard to reduce the amount of phone calls, emails, or notes that we receive. We ask that you reserve those modes of communication for emergencies only. Thank you in advance for your help and let us know if you have any questions at all!

Nursing Updates
- Please make sure your Final Forms medical information is up to date. We will closely read the health sections to address any medical concerns. If your child requires medication (over the counter or prescription) during the school day, we must have a signed medication form on file. You can find this attached below.
- It is important to check your child each day for symptoms of illness as you know them best. If they become I'll during the day, or are injured, we will reach out to you and let you know if their symptoms are worsening. We call home for injuries, fevers, and continued sickness. We do not call home for every trip to the nurse for a band-aid, ice pack or upset tummy. We certainly will call if symptoms worsen. We sometimes use our School Nurse Cell Phone.
- Students sent home with a fever, may not return to school until they are fever free without medication for at least 24 hours. This means if your child was sent home on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. with a fever, he/she may not return to school until 24 hours later. If your child does return the next day, our school will be calling for you to come pick him/her up. Please help to support our efforts in this area.
- DO NOT medicate your child with fever reducing medication and send them to school. Yes, there are times when children need allergy medication, cough suppressant or nasal decongestant and can still attend school. If your child is feeling yucky, they are not at their best for learning and others can get sick when your child is symptomatic.
- Children between the ages of 3-6 often become sick more frequently due to learning sneeze and cough etiquette along with how to use a tissue correctly. You can practice this at home and remind your children the importance of covering their mouth and not spreading germs.
Finally, please make sure your child has extra clothes in his/her backpack. Accidents and spills happen all the time and it's safe to always have their own clothes in their book bag instead of wearing our spare clothes.

Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, community members gathered at Leighton Elementary School for Make A Difference Day. Aurora Schools Foundation (ASF) secured a grant from @ServeOhio to make improvements to the grounds behind the school. Volunteers from Interact Club, Rotary, Service Learning Class, National Honor Society, and more came to help with the efforts. Huge thanks to Principal Warders, Assistant Principal Jeff Morris, teacher Lisa Leone, and all of the folks who helped make a difference for our students and community!
