- Fever over 100.4
- Cough
- Loss of taste or smell,
- Shortness of breath
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Muscle or body aches
- Sore throat
- Congestion/Runny nose
- Nausea/vomiting
- Diarrhea
2. Students with a known COVID-19 exposure within the previous 2 weeks.
Please use this COVID-19 Daily Symptom Checklist at home.
Screening at School
Every student will be screened daily by ESD staff for symptoms of Covid-19 and including a fever check prior to entering classrooms.
Staff will utilize a touchless thermometer and ask a series of questions during this screening.
Any student that is identified as having symptoms will be moved to an Isolation Room and parent/guardian will be required to pick the student up immediately. Students will not be transported home via district transportation.
Teachers will ask the following questions during the screening process:
1. Do you have any symptoms today (cough, shortness of breath, headache, sore throat. fever, diarrhea/vomiting, loss of taste or smell)?
2. Have you been around anyone that has been diagnosed with Covid 19 in the last 2 weeks?
Face Coverings
Mandatory to Attend in-Person Learning
Students are required to wear a face mask, covering both the nose and mouth on buses and on school district property at all times. Students are responsible for supplying their own face coverings (face masks will be available to those in need).
Gaiters are an acceptable face cover as long as they are two layers thick. Single layered gators can be folded over to accomplish this. They may only be worn if they provide two layers of cloth, cover both the mouth and the nose and must be worn appropriately.
Alternatives to face masks are only an option in rare situations. These include students with disabilities, students under the age of 5, or students with medical conditions which prevent the use of masks. Medical verification will be required and questions should be directed to the student’s principal or the Student Services Department.
Please refer to the Washington State Department of Health Guidance on Cloth Face Coverings and CDC Recommendation Regarding the Use of Cloth Face Coverings for more information.
Social Distancing
- Students will be spaced out six feet throughout the day with only infrequent and intermittent contact within six feet.
- Social distancing will be enforced at all campuses.
Contact Tracing/Exposure
Families will be expected to immediately report suspected or confirmed cases of Covid-19 to school staff.
Contact tracing will be conducted for close contacts (any individual within 6 feet of a confirmed case of Covid-19 for at least 15 minutes) of laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients under the direction of state and local public health officials.
Families will be informed via standard district communication channels if a student was exposed to a confirmed case of Covid-19. Notification of possible exposure will take place as soon as possible.
All identified contacts should self-quarantine at home for 14 days from their last exposure (i.e., close encounter with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case).
Testing should be considered for all close contacts of confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients.
Updated Contact Information
Cleaning and Sanitization
Conduct additional disinfecting and cleaning, utilizing Environmental Protection Agency certified disinfectants.
Ensure disinfection of frequently touched surfaces, such as door handles and restroom facilities.
Classrooms, offices, and restrooms will be cleaned throughout the day and as needed.
Encourage frequent hand washing throughout the day and prior to mealtimes.
How We are Adapting our Classrooms
Students will wash their hands and/or use alcohol based hand sanitizer upon entering/exiting the classroom.
Students and staff will be required to wear masks and physically distance.
Separate supplies and manipulatives to limit sharing of items.
Assigned seating in each classroom and lunch room for secondary.
At the secondary level: In addition to cleaning by the custodial staff, students will be provided with safe-to-use disinfecting wipes to allow them to wipe down their desk and chair prior to use each class period.
How We are Adapting our Transportation
Reduced ridership
Riders will be kept as far apart as possible in assigned seats.
Siblings/household members will be permitted to sit together.
Students and bus drivers will be required to wear face covering while being transported on the bus.
Lowering windows and allowing fresh air in during routes as weather permits.
How We are Adapting our Playgrounds
Students will remain in their cohorts while at recess.
Elementary campuses are enforcing playground zones to ensure there is not an intermixing of cohorts.
Social distancing will be maintained and masks required while on our playground equipment.
Masks free zones will be in areas where students will remain stationary and maintain six feet distance from others.
After recess, students will be required to use hand sanitizer upon building entry.
Food Service
Elementary students will be delivered meals to the classroom in disposable containers.
Secondary students will be provided an assigned area where they are six feet from peers.
Daily grab and go meals will be provided to secondary students and elementary students who are not attending in-person.
Elementary students will eat at their desks in their classrooms. Secondary students will maintain social distancing guidelines during lunches.
Desks and tables will be wiped down before and after eating.
Students will be required to wash/sanitize hands before and after meals.
No sharing of lunches between students.
Health Rooms and Isolation Spaces
Each school has a designated Isolation Space to host any person with suspected Covid-19 symptoms. These spaces will be thoroughly disinfected after each use.
Standard health rooms will provide routine health services for any non-Covid related issue.
Staff and Visitors
All staff and visitors are required to sign into district buildings and complete the health attestation form.
Please be aware we are not permitting parents or volunteers in the buildings at this time.
Any staff showing COVID-19 symptoms will be sent home immediately and directed to work with Human Resources and their healthcare provider, following the Washington State Dept of Health guidelines.
