The Coaches Corner

The CoachesCornerMarch 3, 2023

Happy March Coaches!

In Eastern Oregon weather fashion, spring is coming. As my mom (Beth's mom, Edith) always said, wait 10 minutes and the weather will change and boy, was she right! It's also the time of year when we see schedules fill with a plethora of spring activities (baseball, softball, track, state testing, conferences, yard clean up...the list goes on). It's just a crazy combination of renewal, growth, and busyness. And of course, don't forget about Daylight Savings Time on March 12th.

With that said, we hope you are able to find time to breathe and reflect as the new season unfolds. We also look forward to seeing you at our next huddle on March 8th.

Warmest Regards,

Ayla, Beth, & Jennifer

Great Read or Listen

Earlier this year a book came out that focuses on a whole-school approach for creating educational equality and fostering positive school climate. I first heard about it while listening to a recent Cult of Pedagogy podcast. Street Data: A Next-Generation Model for Equity, Pedagogy, and School Transformation, written by Dr. Shane Safir and Dr. Jamila Dugan, takes a look at the importance of holistic data collection through deep listening. It emphasizes the importance of student, parent and teacher voice through creative inquiry (live interviews).
