CELEBRATION! The April Students of the Month!
On Wednesday, we celebrated our April Students of the Month by inviting families to be with us as we honored this achievement. These students have been nominated for this distinguished achievement through their continued demonstration of Rock Pride. Specifically, how they have demonstrated perseverance, respect, integrity, discipline and empathy in and out of the classroom.
The April Students of the Month:
6th Grade: Nerine Hamtha, Shanaya Shankar, Amelia Lovell and Ned Habtemariam
7th Grade: Sam Matais, Mari Davidson, Ainsley Ryan, Kazuki Tsuchiya and Victoria Paz Delgado
8th Grade: Alexa Jimenez-Delgado, Nadheer Abdulrazaq, Diego Soria Tellez, Rion Shiba and Yamil Jimenez Seda
From Mr. Sachtleben's Desk...
I have been taking the time to meet with each grade level in our Town Hall Meetings in order to re-emphasize our common commitments and maintaining a work ethic during this last quarter of school. It is very easy for our students to "mail it in" right now, but there is still so much learning that will be taking place this month of April and into May!
I challenge our parents to discuss with their students the importance of maintaining their positive attitude and growth mindset. The warmer weather doesn't help as this brings thoughts of summer break and no school. However, there are several weeks of learning still and we expect our students to bring that work ethic!
We also challenged the students to set themselves up for success. Are they making choices here at school that will help them be successful or are they giving in to the group mentality for fear of sticking out? This is challenging for middle schoolers, but we know that they can match and exceed the expectations we have for them. Lately, my line with them all has been "you are much better than you are currently demonstrating." I believe our students can maintain our high levels of learning and can meet our common commitments.
Thank you for your continued partnership this school year. My time with you all is quickly coming to an end, but we still have this quarter to conquer! Have a great weekend!
