A PRAYER BEFORE OUR BACK TO SCHOOL BBQ ๐
Heavenly Father,
We come together today in Your presence.
Thank you for the gift of this community and for bringing us safely to this time and place.
Lord God, pour out Your Holy Spirit upon us.
Open our hearts to one another,
fill us with Your grace and compassion,
and help us to build bonds of true friendship and mutual support.
Guide our conversations, our listening, and our time together.
May everything we say and do here bring honor to Your name
and draw us closer to one another in peace and unity.
Bless our community, protect us from harm,
and give us the strength to serve one another with joyful hearts.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL ๐
Dear Bruin Family,
It's time for the Back-to-School BBQ!
Tonight, down by the ADB, our school community is invited to join us for delicious food, great company, and the official kickoff to an exciting new school year. Our PTO has been hard at work preparing for a fantastic evening centered on community, and we can't wait to see you there. Don your boots, bandana, and best Stetson, and get ready for some fun! Be sure to review the "Know Before You Go" information below so you're fully prepared for the evening.
I would also like to wish everyone a happy and restful Labor Day as we enjoy a day off from school on Monday. When we return on Tuesday, we'll jump right into our first major fundraiser of the year: Fun Run 2026! We have an exciting theme, great prizes, and plenty of fun and adventure ahead. Information will be sent home on Tuesday. Following last year's fundraising success, we are eager to begin again as we continue supporting and sustaining the mission of St. Dorothy School.
See you all tonight as we boot, scoot, and boogie!
Sincerely,
Mr. Ryan Nearhoff

CHILD SAFETY ๐จ
Did You Know?
August 8-9 || Characteristics of developmentally appropriate behaviors
It is important to distinguish normal, age-appropriate curiosity from concerning sexual behaviors that may be inappropriate or potentially abusive. In general, developmentally appropriate behaviors will be playful, curious, and will be enacted among similar age groups. While these behaviors are not ideal in play, and should be discussed with children, they are typically not causes for concern. These moments can also serve as opportunities to talk about boundaries, appropriate behaviors and safe adults. For more information, read the VIRTUSยฎ article โDifferentiating age-appropriate curiosity from harmful sexual behavior and abuse in elementary aged childrenโ at lacatholics.org/did-you-know.
Mission Statement
To educate TK-Eighth grade students in a Catholic environment in which the curriculum emphasizes spiritual, ethical, and social values of the Catholic faith to become responsible and moral citizens within the global community.
Philosophy
Supporting the belief that parents are the primary educators of their children, we as educators at St. Dorothy Catholic School, dedicate ourselves to partner with the parents in preparing children to become contributing members of the community. To achieve this, we provide holistic development in psychological, emotional, social and physical health, with an emphasis on academics, faith, and Christian service.
In collaboration with parents, we champion student achievement through the presentation, practice, and study of Catholic doctrine, a strong academic curriculum, multimedia and multi-cultural experiences, physical education, extracurricular programs, and the dedicated commitment of the teachers and staff.
