Girls and Women in Sports Luncheon

This event which is sponsored by DCSD’s Activities and Athletics Department and the Foundation for Douglas County Schools is a heartwarming tribute to our girls and women in sports. We recognized many of our athletes from our middle schools and high schools. We are so proud of these young women! Watch the recording of the event (the portion on Chap starts at 1:54:15) .

Shining Star Nominations

What is Shining Star?

The Shining Star program honors exceptional DCSD staff members who have made a positive impact on students served by Special Education. Every nominee is recognized, and ten individuals are randomly selected to receive a beautiful gift basket, personally delivered by DCSEAC.

How are staff members nominated?

Parents and guardians are invited to nominate staff members who have positively impacted their child’s special education experience. Nominations can be submitted via the Shining Star 2026 Nomination Form from now through February 28, with recipients announced on March 11.

I’ve attached two flyers that may be helpful for sharing with your school community. We truly appreciate any support in spreading the word about this meaningful program.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Courtney Nangle

DCSEAC Shining Star Coordinator

Chap After Prom Committee Needs Your Shoes!

The Chap After Prom Committee is partnering with Funds2orgs to collect gently worn, used and new shoes. Get a head start on spring cleaning, give your unused shoes a new lease on life, and help support a fun, safe night for Chap students. Donated shoes go to developing countries where they are sold by micro-entrepreneurs in their communities.

Help spread the word by reaching out to family, friends and neighbors. Heading to the big Chap vs. Legend basketball games Friday? Bring along a pair of shoes. Donation bins are located near the theater and the library until March 24.

Thank you for your support of the Chaparral After Prom!
