Callihan's Cache Tech Challenge

The goal of this challenge is to get you familiar with Screencasting for teaching and learning.

Mission Part 1: Download and Try

1. Open your Chrome Bowser

2. Using the "Waffle" App launcher (upper left) launch the Chrome Web Store

When in doubt simply do a Google search for the Chrome Web Store

3. Spend some time searching the store for Chrome Apps and Extensions if you haven't already had an opportunity to do so

4. Search for the ScreenCastify (Screen recorder extension)

5. Select Free and Add

6. The Screencastify Extension will now be in your bookmarks bar to the right of your Omni bar

7. Select the Extension and "allow" access to your microphone and camera when prompted

8. Select "Start Recording" and explore a little so that you are comfortable with the basics of this tool.

Mission Part 2: Screencasting and Publishing

1. Think of your favorite educational Chrome App/Extension or Website

2. Navigate to this tool or site

3. Launch the Screencastify extension

4. Record a brief screencast explaining this tool or site to share with others.

5. Upload your screencast to YouTube (You have an account with your ginorthwest account)

6. Share your YouTube link with me via email or Twitter

Screencasting is a valuable tool and can serve many purposes for you in your teaching and learning. I hope this challenge provides some opportunities for you to use or share this tool.

Those completing both missions will be entered into this month's drawing for an iTunes card.
