Ridge Relay
Soaring to Success - September 26, 2024
Hello Eagles!
October is a busy month - please take note of many dates below and join us at one of our many school sporting events, student activities and community or volunteer opportunities.
Also, parents, we need your assistance in reminding your students to be on their best Eagle behavior at the Vandegrift HS football game tomorrow and any events moving forward. At the last home Viper game, behaviors included playing tag/chase and roughhousing under & in the stands, throwing food and liquids on each other & other fans, and dropping items from the bleachers to the walkway below. There have been close calls with both a toddler and an elderly female being hit by liquid filled bottles that were dropped from the top row where MS students are sitting. We are addressing this at both FPMS and CRMS because we know these are not all CRMS students, but we also need to make sure everyone is aware that these actions are causing a major safety hazard for all parties and are not stopping despite multiple warnings and recent ejections from the stands. As a result, officers/administration have informed us that more strict enforcement will be taken starting this Friday. Please help us to make sure that our VHS games are fun and safe games to be fans.
Go Eagles! And Go Vipers!
Mrs. Wendy Sturdevant
New Parent opportunity at CRMS starts tomorrow

So if you have any last minute attendance notes for absences through September 20th, please email the notes to crmsattendance@leanderisd.org or drop the note in the front office by the end of the day on Monday.
Volunteers needed to help teachers October 7-11
World Teachers Day is celebrated annually on October 5th, and in 2024, it will take place on a Saturday. It's a day to recognize and appreciate teachers around the world for their role in education and the impact they have on students. Since it is on a Saturday, we are going to honor our teachers October 7-11 and this is a great way to show teachers appreciation by giving them a break or extra time to plan/grade, but also is a way for you to connect with CRMS by getting to know the staff, students and seeing how the systems at CRMS work during the school day. Please review the available lunch duty slots and click on the button to sign up. You are welcome to sign-up for as many time-slots that work for you. :)
Student Assembly at CRMS on October 9th
In honor of National Bullying Prevention Month and our campus-wide Kindness Initiative, Canyon Ridge Middle School, in partnership with Four Points Middle School, is excited to welcome national best-selling author and international motivational speaker Dennard Mitchell on October 9th. He will present his anti-bullying and kindness program, Just R.E.A.C.H. One at both campuses. We believe this assembly will be a valuable experience for all our Eagles and Falcons, as we work together to foster a culture of kindness on our campuses.
Thank you to our CRMS PTA for your sponsorship and to FPMS for your partnership to bring this opportunity to all of our Eagles on the morning of October 9th!

Student Independent Study Projects Showcase
Students who finish coursework have the opportunity to complete projects that interest them - any school-appropriate topic, almost any format. So like a science fair, but the project could be anything - preventing animal abuse, demonstrating features of muscle cars, code-breaking, a timeline of shoe fashion, and more. We are hosting a share fair with Four Points Middle School for students who complete projects this fall and this spring. Participating students who are responsible to come and work in the library with a pass from class can do research and project development in the library - see Mrs. Wright for passes and Google Classroom code details.

Attendance Reminders
Important Attendance Reminders:
- Absence notes should be emailed to crmsattendance@leanderisd.org within 48 hours of the absence.
When you email the school, please include the student's first and last name and ID #. Student nicknames can cause confusion with attendance coding. Please note why the student was absent or what kind of appointment they had (medical/dental) otherwise it will be unexcused due to lack of info.
If you will be picking up your child from school early, please call the school (512-570-3500) ahead of time to let the Receptionist know. This allows our Receptionist time to get a pass written ahead of time and helps to move the process along more quickly. The latest a student may be picked up early is 4pm due to our end-of-day dismissal.
The only people who will be permitted to pick up a child will be parents/guardians and those individuals listed as an emergency contact in your Home Access Center (HAC). Due to safety reasons, we are no longer allowing a parent to call in and give permission for someone to pick up your child during the school day other than those listed in HAC.
We do not allow early pick up after 4:00pm.
- If you feel like there is an error for a particular class period, please email the teacher directly first. For example, if your student was tardy and the teacher accidentally already marked the student absence, email the teacher because the attendance office has to have it in writing from the teacher before attendance can update anything
- There is a turn around time in updates if a student was with the nurse, AP, counselor, etc. It is not necessary to email the attendance office. Please remember that we have 1000 students so it will take 2-4 business days to show the update. We appreciate your patience and understanding that our team is working tirelessly to support all of our Eagles!
