Our first set of parent teacher interviews is set for Thursday, November 27th from 3:30 until 8:30 PM. Parents are encouraged to come in and meet with teachers to discuss their child's progress.

Parents can sign up for their interviews by going to this website. We have reset all users, so parents will need to create a new account this year.

If you are new to our booking site, please see the following tips for how to register and book appointments:

1. Register for an account by clicking the "REGISTER" menu tab and filling in the on-line form. Choose a user id and password for yourself and then click the "Register Now" button.

2. Add your children into the system by clicking the "Add a Student" button. Click the "Insert New" button to add more children.

3. Click the "date" icon beside each child's name to schedule appointments. Select the staff you wish to book appointments with and the "View Calendars" button. Use the "Ctrl" or "Command" key to select multiple staff to view at the same time.

Last week, information was sent home with all students regarding a fundraiser that the Hay Lakes Society for Youth Development is putting on a gift card fundraiser where you can purchase gift cards from many different stores, and our society will receive a percentage of the gift card amount as a donation. All orders must be in by November 30th at 5pm. Cards will be delivered to the school by mid December.

There are all sorts of clothing stores, as well as restaurants and fast food places to order from! If you are thinking of getting someone a gift card as a gift this year, why not order it from this site and help support our school!

On Thursday, November 20th, we will be doing our first lock down drill of the school year. When we hold our lockdown drill, discussions will also take place with students in a calm, sensitive, age-appropriate way, so as not to generate anxiety or fear. If you’d like to speak to your children ahead of time, to provide additional reassurance that they are safe at school and drills are what we do so we are prepared ‘just in case’, we would welcome your support.

The date for our next school council meeting has been changed to Wednesday, December 3rd, at 7 PM. All parents are welcome to attend - you do not have to have attended a meeting prior to this.

What is School Council? The School Council is an advisory group for the school. Come to find out more about school activities, academic programming, and find out how parents can be involved in our school. No extra commitment is required beyond, so why not come to a meeting to find out more about our school!

Hay Lakes School Awards Night will take place on Wednesday, December 10th at 6:30 PM in the school gym.

Invitation letters were sent home with students last week. We ask that parents RSVP by heading to this site.

Mark your calendars! Our Christmas Concert will be Tuesday, December 16th at 6:30 PM.

We will also be having a dress rehearsal in the afternoon, beginning at 1:30, which parents, families and friends are welcome to attend if they are unable to come to the evening performance.

We will once again be having a draw for our "Best Seat in the House" and will be selling refreshments for the concerts in support of the Hay Lakes School Band program.

Our next Book Club book is The Lemonade War: Graphic Novel by Jacqueline Davies. If your child would like to participate, the book can be purchased on Amazon here. For more information, email Mrs. Irvine.

Our Fall Book Fair is coming soon! The new dates are December 3rd - 8th. You are welcome to attend the Fair during your student's scheduled time or at any time during our scheduled hours. Flyers will be sent home prior to the Book Fair.
