Valley Heights FFA is very proud of Dustin Denton, his hard work, and all he has accomplished. Dustin currently serves as the president of the Valley Heights FFA Chapter and the secretary for the Kansas Northeast District FFA. On April 22nd Dustin was inducted as the 2024-2025 Kansas Northeast District FFA President. Dustin is the first district president from Valley Heights since Mrs. Susan Steinfort in 1996! Since Dustin is elected as the Northeast District President, Ms. Carrie Husband is now the Kansas Northeast District FFA Advisor, meaning she will be advising the 2024-2025 Northeast District FFA Officer Team as the need arises.

A Letter from Mr. Savage
- More news from our FFA program! Dustin Denton was elected as the Northeast Kansas District FFA President. This is quite an honor and requires a significant amount of work by the candidate. I found out that the last time Valley Heights had a District FFA President was during the 1995-1996 school year and that person was our very own Mrs. Susan Steinfort! Ms. Husband was also named as the Northeast Kansas District Advisor. Both of these people will be working during the next year organizing the Northeast Kansas District contests and meetings! Congratulations to both Dustin and Ms. Husband.
- We hosted our annual Athletic Banquet on April 24th and entertained a crowd of over 200 for the event. The night started out with an excellent meal, catered by Vathauer Catering, and followed by a live auction of memorabilia from all of our programs. Our coaches had the opportunity to introduce our athletes, announce who were letter winners and announce all post-season honors. Although we have yet to finish our spring sports we are very quickly putting the finishing touches on a very successful year for our Mustangs.
On April 25th we hosted both Senior Night and Forensics Night at Valley Heights. Our evening stated off with the Senior displays which include mementos from the past four years as well as their portfolios. Our guests had the opportunity to visit with each of our seniors about future goals and the artifacts they had on display. The seniors did an excellent job of presenting and the tables were very well thought out. Congratulations to the Class of 2024 and Mrs. Yungeberg for reaching another milestone on their way to graduation. We followed up that event with Forensics Night. Our forensic team members presented their competition pieces on the stage and in selected rooms and did a fantastic job, as usual! Congratulations to our state qualifiers and to Mrs. Coon for a well-planned evening.
The days left for the Class of 2024 are becoming less and less but that doesn’t mean they are on cruise control just yet! May 1st is the day set aside for their Senior speeches which is the last, major assignment for their Senior Portfolio. May 5th is the Baccalaureate program for the Class of 2024 and this event will start at 7:00 pm. The public is invited to join us in the Commons for this service. May 8th is the final day of classes for the Class of 2024 with graduation rehearsal in the afternoon. Class members will be visiting both elementary schools that day so that these students can see that hard work does have its rewards. Finally, class members will receive their diplomas during graduation ceremonies on May 11th at 2:00 pm in the gymnasium. This class has accomplished much over the past four years and we are very proud of each and every one of them!
Have a great week!
