We hope everyone had a great week! It was a busy and exciting week here at Bogota Middle School.

Yesterday afternoon, our Jr. YAC hosted an ice cream sale, with proceeds benefiting breast cancer research. Today, Mr. Pelletier was fortunate to welcome author and graphic novelist Matt Myklusch back to BMS for an in-person visit! This is the second consecutive year that Matt has visited our school to discuss the writing process and the many aspects of creating books. We look forward to welcoming additional authors throughout the school year to inspire our students and encourage their creativity.

Next week, parent conferences will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If you have not received a phone call or email from your child's teacher, a conference is not required at this time. We encourage all parents and guardians to continue monitoring their child's grades and academic progress throughout the school year. Due to conferences, October 20, 21, and 22 will be single-session days, with student dismissal at 12:40 p.m.

We also have several exciting events coming up! Wednesday, October 21, will be our Wear Pink Day, with a suggested $1 donation. Our Pink-Out Walkathon will take place on Friday, October 23. Additionally, student council elections are scheduled for next week, giving our students an opportunity to get involved and demonstrate their leadership skills.

Finally, please visit the PTO section and click the link if you would like to donate items or volunteer for our upcoming BMS Trunk or Treat!

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. As the weather continues to get cooler, please remind your child to wear a coat when walking to and from school.

Have a great weekend!

Mr. Albiez
Principal, Bogota Middle School

NURSE'S CORNER NURSE'S CORNER

Please review the following important reminders to help keep our students healthy, safe, and ready to learn throughout the school year.

Breakfast and Hydration

  • Please encourage your child to eat breakfast before coming to school.

  • Bringing a reusable water bottle to school each day is strongly encouraged to help students stay hydrated throughout the day.

Annual Physicals and Immunizations

  • Annual physical exams are strongly recommended. Please send a copy of your child's physical to me so we can keep it on file, especially if your child plans to try out for school sports.

Illness and Absences

  • Please do not send your child to school if they are sick. Students must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school.

  • If your child will be absent due to illness, please call the school to notify us.

  • If your child will be absent for more than three days, a doctor's note is required.

Medication at School

  • No medication, including over-the-counter medication, may be taken at school without the required physician's authorization and adherence to school medication procedures. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Lost and Found

  • Please remind your child to check the Lost and Found bin each week.

  • We currently have two pairs of glasses that were found more than two weeks ago. Please have your child check with the school if they may belong to them.

Feminine Hygiene Products

  • Students who would like to keep a labeled pouch of feminine hygiene products in my office are welcome to bring one in.

Please call or email should you have any questions.
