We’re excited to welcome Mr. Justin Smith as our new Assistant Principal! Mr. Smith is a proud Norview graduate who once walked the same halls you do—and even taught here before stepping into this new leadership role.
His deep connection to Norview and commitment to our students make his return especially meaningful. Be sure to say hello and give him a warm Pilot welcome when you see him around school!

We’re proud to recognize our students for their growing commitment to getting to school and class on time each day! Your efforts make a real difference—our number of daily tardies has been steadily decreasing, and that’s a direct result of your responsibility, focus, and pride in being a Norview Pilot.

What's Happening in 9th Grade English
During the week of October 23 in Room 240 with Ms. Blagg, we utilized a lesson on a modern voice in our discussion of The Civil Rights Movement. Ms. Herring included an article in her preparation on Kendrick Lamar's 2025 Super Bowl Show of which I was skeptical, at first, as discussion of the show revealed how many students were disappointed in Lamar's performance.
We read a critic's review of the show and began to explore the many ways in which Kendrick Lamar covered themes of civil rights and liberties under threat for Black Americans. When we began to relate his imagery, symbolism, lyrics and songs back to voices of the CRM, the students made the connection with Lamar's message. They revealed growth in their thinking as they read the critical response, finally determining that the artist was not using his Super Bowl Show to entertain America, but rather to speak truth to a fraught country.
Congratulations!
Congratulations to the Pilot Girls Cross Country team for qualifying for the state tournament!!! They will be competing in Leesburg, VA on November 8.

Updated CDC Respiratory Virus (COVID) Update
The Centers for Disease Control released updated recommendations for how people can protect themselves and their communities from respiratory viruses, including COVID-19. The new guidance brings a unified approach to addressing risks from a range of common respiratory viral illnesses, such as COVID-19, flu, and RSV, which can cause significant health impacts and strain on hospitals and health care workers. The CDC is making updates to the recommendations now because the United States is seeing far fewer hospitalizations and deaths associated with COVID-19 and because we have more tools than ever to combat flu, COVID-19, and RSV.
Recommendations for when you may have a respiratory virus include staying home and away from others (including people you live with who are not sick) if you have respiratory virus symptoms that are not better explained by another cause. These symptoms can include fever, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose, and headache, among others.
Keep in mind that you may still be able to spread the virus that made you sick, even if you are feeling better. You are likely to be less contagious at this time, depending on factors like how long you were sick or how sick you were.
If you develop a fever or you start to feel worse after you have gone back to normal activities, stay home and away from others again until, for at least 24 hours, both are true: your symptoms are improving overall, and you have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication). Each time that you come back to work from COVID restrictions, the additional precautions mentioned above should be implemented.
You may return to your normal activities after a positive COVID test when, for at least 24 hours, both of the following are true:
Your symptoms are getting better overall, and
You have not had a fever (100.4℉ or higher) and are not using fever-reducing medication.
When you return to your normal activities, you should take additional precautions over the next 5 days including:
using a mask
practicing hand hygiene
physical distancing
