Building Bridges, Closing Gaps, Leaving Legacies

Message from Dr. Abney
I woke up this morning to make a few edits to this weekly newsletter before it went out since we made history last night as Vikings! We have so much to celebrate. π₯³
With a win against Forest Park last night, our volleyball team is HEADED TO STATES for the first time since 1998 and I could not be happier for this team. When you watch them play, you can see how much they pour into each set and how much they genuinely love playing with one another. Our first stop in this journey will be the Regional Championship game on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. at Colonial Forge. If you want to see some incredible volleyball and a group of girls that are just so fun to watch, please join us for this BIG game. We need our fans there!
And just as the volleyball game came to an end last night, our football team was inching towards a victory against Gar-Feld. We are officially DISTRICT CHAMPIONS for the third year in a row! And I just learned through InsideNova that this is the first time we have won three straight district championships since 1965! Please join us next Friday night at 7:00 p.m. as we host Gar-Field for the first round of Regionals! For those of you who have been in the Woodbridge area for awhile, the Woodbridge vs Gar-Field rivalry continues and our football team is ready to claim another W!
π The 2nd Annual Student Ambassador Convening
Student Ambassadors play an important role in creating welcoming, connected, and supportive school communities. The 2026 PWCS Student Ambassador Convening on November 3 brought peer leaders together to share experiences, exchange ideas, build relationships, and strengthen their leadership skills. Through interactive sessions and conversations, participants explored ways to use their voices, support their peers, strengthen their Student Ambassador Programs, and turn ideas into meaningful action in their schools and beyond. π½ WSHS Honors our Veterans
In honor of the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces, including members of the Woodbridge High School staff who continue to serve our community by educating and inspiring young people, the Woodbridge High School administrative team will host a Veterans Day Breakfast on November 10 in the JROTC classroom.
The breakfast will be held from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
The Woodbridge High School administration extends its sincere appreciation to the WSHS PSO for generously sponsoring this event. We would also like to recognize First Sergeant Jackson (Retired), Lieutenant Colonel Osborn (Retired), and our JROTC cadets for their leadership and support in making this special event possible.
We look forward to honoring and celebrating the following veterans who are members of our Woodbridge High School community:

To all who have served, thank you for your service, sacrifice, and continued dedication to our country.
π Morning Arrival Reminders
Student safety is our greatest priority, and it is also a community effort. When driving onto campus in the morning, always follow the directions of security and administrative staff. Drivers should ensure car headlights are on, drive slowly, and watch for pedestrians. Student drop-off is highly encouraged on the stadium parking lot side (Antietam Drive). Pedestrians should be alert and not looking at phones when walking through parking lots, and they should not walk between buses. Together, we can start the day safely.
π Class of 2027 Graduation Information
On October 29, seniors previewed the updated WSHS Graduation attire and learned how to order graduation attire through Jostens, our graduation supplier. The Class of 2027 will be the first in Woodbridge history to wear custom stoles with their green caps and gowns when they receive their diplomas! Please see the Graduating Class webpage for more information.
π After School Tutoring
π£ Attention Students! If you need extra support in Math, English, Science, History, or Spanish, help is available! Come to the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 2:20 PM to get the academic assistance you need. No need to sign up, just show up! Students should report to the library upon arrival, where they will be directed to the correct location based on the subject in which they need assistance. If you need help in more than one subject, that's perfectly fine. You may move between subjects once you have finished receiving help in each area.
β οΈ Important: Students will not be permitted to remain in the library or other areas simply to study independently or work with friends. This year, sessions are designated for after-school tutorials, so students must be actively receiving academic assistance from staff.
π After-school buses are provided for students residing in the WSHS district, so transportation will not be an issue.
Take advantage of this opportunity to get the support you need, stay on track, and succeed! πβ¨
