A note from the principal
Share your thoughts on our school calendar; Your feedback will help shape 2027-28 and beyond
Feedback opportunity! Please share your thoughts on our school calendar via: OsseoSchools.org/CalendarInput. Your input will directly inform our Planning Committee’s next steps as they draft calendars for 2027-28 and beyond.
Every year, Osseo Area Schools strives to build a calendar that prioritizes student learning while respecting the time and needs of our families and hardworking staff. While it’s clear there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution, your feedback is the most important tool our team has in finding the best possible balance.
The feedback form will close at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 19. Questions? Reach out to info@district279.org.

After School Fun
No Tardy Party!
We recently celebrated students who met our schoolwide expectations for being on time to class with our latest No Tardy Party. Students who qualified enjoyed games, pizza, and ice cream as recognition for demonstrating positive, responsible behavior throughout the school day.
At Osseo Middle School, we teach and reinforce the Oriole Way through our PBIS framework. Being on time to class is one way students show they are Respectful, Responsible, and Resourceful. These celebrations allow us to recognize and reinforce the positive behaviors we want to see across our building.
We are proud of the many students who earned this recognition and appreciate our families for partnering with us in supporting the Oriole Way. Stay tuned for details about our next No Tardy Party!
Lion King Kids – Osseo Middle School
Join us this spring for an exciting theater experience with Disney’s The Lion King KIDS! This musical tells the story of Simba and his journey from Pride Rock to the jungle and back again. Students will explore themes like courage, friendship, and finding who you are. The show includes favorite songs from the Broadway and animated movie, such as “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” “He Lives in You,” and “Hakuna Matata.”
This class is great for anyone who loves to sing, dance, and act—or wants to try theater for the first time. Every student will have a role in the show, and no experience is needed. Auditions for lead roles will happen on the first day. Costumes are provided, but students should bring their own base layer.
The program is led by trained theater professionals who create a fun and supportive environment. Students will build confidence, learn teamwork, and develop leadership skills while putting on a fantastic show. Space is limited to 50 participants, and pre-registration is required.
Tech rehearsal is on Tuesday, April 28 from 3-5:30 PM at Maple Grove Middle School.
Performances (free) on Friday, May 1 at 7:00 PM (students arrive at 4:30 pm) & Saturday, May 2 at 2:00 PM (students arrive at 11:45 am) at Maple Grove Middle School.
Around Town
Maple Grove
Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day at the Maple Grove Community Center by rocking colorful socks. Enjoy carnival games, music, and a fun, festive atmosphere.
March 21 (3/21) recognizes those with three copies of the 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen as a symbol because the karyotype of Down syndrome chromosomes resembles mismatched socks. Each year on March 21, people around the world show support by wearing bright, mismatched socks.
