MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Hello LMSA Eagles,
These past two weeks of school boast several examples of our school community coming together to accomplish our shared goals.
YTD Attendance Rate- 94.78% (decrease from week 1 is primarily due to early dismissals)
FIF forms - Our Main Office team has processed 1138 total applications (88.91%; 142 outstanding forms)
School-wide assembly - a collaborative effort between admin, counselors, advisory teachers, and our Restorative Justice Team.
Chipotle Dine-Around - a donation of 25% per order resulted in a $452 donation from Chipotle.
Brothers of the Blom - donated $2000 to our athletics program.
However, we must also be mindful of a shared goal that is an ongoing work in progress: school safety. Last week, school communities across the globe learned of a horrific incident involving an active shooter at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. I pray for physical and mental healing for the students, families, and educational staff affiliated with their school community. I also pray for a hedge of protection around our students, families, and staff within our school community.
As you likely know, our school uses metal detectors and X-ray machines to detect weapons and contraband that should not be brought into our school buildings. Our school safety team seized prohibited items and substances from an LMSA student last week thanks to vigilant staff in partnership with responsive parents. I commend the work of our school safety team. I trust that we can count on your support as we collectively take whatever steps we can to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
Students and visitors are not allowed to bring pepper spray, mace, knives/box cutters, guns of any sort, etc into our school.
Cannabis/THC products like gummies, laced beverages, vape pens, vape carts, other forms of drugs, etc., are not allowed on our campus.
Students are prohibited from selling snacks, make-up, contraband, or beverages on campus.
We are committed to keeping our Eagles safe through preventive measures that support our responsibility to keep all students and staff safe. Therefore, we will continue to search student bags as part of our campus entry protocols if there is reasonable cause due to alerts on the metal detectors, X-ray scanners or reported allegations involving prohibited items or substances.
We also ask all parents and guardians to help us ensure that your students do not bring the abovementioned items into our school. Periodically check your student’s book bag/purse/fanny pack, review the product labels on their ‘snacks’ and beverages, and monitor their social media consumption. Let us know if your student reports suspicious, inappropriate, or illegal activities on our campus unbeknownst to admin. These steps will help prevent or deter students from bringing prohibited items into our school community.
Thank you for everything you do daily to keep our school community safe.

BE IMPACTFUL
"Attendance Matters".....this is a slogan that will be uttered often to our Eagles as we prepare them for post-secondary life. Our week two attendance ended with 95.6%. Please keep in mind that late arrivals and early departures impact student's attendance record (one (1) missed block = 0.5 day attendance).
