Attendance Attendance

A big well done to all of our pupils who have been in school every day this week!

We continue to receive a number of holiday requests or requests for extended periods of time to go overseas for various reasons - these cannot be authorised. Absences can only be granted in exceptional circumstances which means it is 'unexpected and unavoidable'.

We will try to continue to have the 2 weeks off in May / June so that there is a quieter (and hopefully cheaper) week for families to take holidays.

This week's school attendance is: 95.4%

This year's attendance to date is: 95.9%.

Early Years & KS1 class of the week is 2E with 97%.

KS2 classes of the week are 4BY and 5CS with 98.3%.

A reminder that, as a school,. we are aiming for no less than 96% attendance.

Mabel - the school dog Mabel - the school dog

As you know, Mabel, the school therapy dog, will be joining us after half term. We will be holding assemblies next week all about her. Please look out for the Ping which will be sent next week which will enable you to give your child permission to have direct contact with Mabel - this might include taking her on walks in the local area, petting her or taking part in interventions with her. Mabel will be visiting school during the holidays to get used to the new environment and will gradually build up her role in school. We are really looking forward to welcoming our newest member of staff!

Filming on Wrose Road Filming on Wrose Road

There was excitement on Wrose Road and Gaisby Lane as a Hollywood film crew 'came to town' yesterday. Although we knew they were filming, as they had had asked to park some of their film 'convoy' in the rear school car park, we were totally unaware there would be any disruption to the traffic (we had not been forewarned of this) so sorry if this caused any disruption. The scene being filmed was for the new Danny Boyle film set in the 1960s featuring Jack O'Connell and Guy Pearce.

A massive well done to all of our KS2 children, who took part in the Inclusion games at Blakehill Primary. They all did really well - lots of smiles and lots of fun. Thank you to Mr Lumb at Blakehill, for organising such a fantastic event.
