VOLUME 1
7 February 2025
Welcome back to St John Paul II for Term 1, 2025!
Loving God, bless this journey of a new school year that we undertake. Renew our spirits as we embrace the beautiful ministry you have called us to. We welcome those who are new to this community and ask that you strengthen them to share the wonderful gifts you have given them. May we show love to one another and to all as we start afresh.
Amen
PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME
Dear Parents
Welcome back to the start of another school year! Children returned from their holiday break and have settled seamlessly back into a routine. They were certainly happy about being with their friends. I especially welcome our Kindy children and new children to other year levels. To all our new families here at St. John Paul II, a very special welcome is extended.
Parent Information Night
I wish to invite and encourage all parents and caregivers to our Information Night on Thursday 13th February. The format will be the same as last years to provide families with as much important information as possible. The outline of the evening is below:
- 5:30pm Session 1
- 6:00pm Whole School meeting run by School Leadership
- 6:30-7:00pm Session 2
Each classroom teacher will run 2 sessions so that parents with more than one child at school, have the opportunity to listen to 2 teachers, one at 5:30pm and the second at 6:30pm. In the middle of the sessions, all parents meet in the Undercover Area to listen to whole school information by myself and Mr Nic Bigwood.
P&F Cultural Evening
I am very excited to inform you about our first P&F community event in 2025.
After the success of our 2 previous cultural experiences, celebrating our African and Asian nations, we will host our Aboriginal Cultural Evening on Friday 28th February, from 4:30-7pm. There will be a range of activities celebrating Aboriginal culture. Everyone is encouraged to come wearing yellow, red and black clothing. Please see the flyer below.
We are hoping that this event will continue to both educate and celebrate our diverse community as we strive to live out our school motto of In Harmony.
Sacramental Commitment Mass
Sunday 23 February, all students who are celebrating a Sacrament this year will need to attend 9:30am mass at our Parish this Sunday. Further information and the commitment form are provided below in this newsletter.

Uniforms
Parents, we require your ongoing support in making sure that children come to school in the correct uniform, including all black shoes. Also, this year we are changing from green to all black socks.
I ask that children do not come to school wearing nail polish and jewellery (except studs or sleeper earrings), or with extreme haircuts, (hair colours, mullets, or ‘tracks’ as part of a haircut).
Uniforms can be purchased online through our school’s webpage https://sjpiicps.wa.edu.au/our-parents/uniform/ . They can be delivered to school for free or directly to your home for a $10 postage fee.
Old Uniforms
We will gladly accept any old school bags or uniforms in good condition. There are times when we need to support another family, and these uniforms will assist during these instances. Please bring any donations of uniform or school bags to the office.
Medical update
It is the responsibility of parents to advise the school of necessary medical information about their child. Regards allergies, asthma etc, all action plans need to be updated for the new year. If your child is new to the school or if a health condition has been diagnosed (asthma or an allergy to specific food group or insect bite), it is most important that the appropriate ‘Action’ plan (from your doctor) and medication be sent to the office. We advise parents to come and view the existing action plan before 12th February.
Absentee phone number
Please note the school absentee number is 0481 883 524 if you wish to leave a text. You can also call the office, dial 1 and leave a voice message on our absentee line.
