Superintendent's Message
It was a strange week of missing school due to the treacherous roads. But they were so slick and I want my LISD families, parents, students and employees to be safe. So we made the decisions day by day to not have school. I hope you used the time to refresh and be ready to hit it hard. Due to the "proclamation declaring a disaster due to severe weather" issued by Governor Abbot I'll be asking our amazing school board to approve the action of submitting a Missed Day Waiver to TEA so that we do not have to make those days up. If approved we can continue like normal. If not approved we have a couple of options that we'll explore, but safety is always number one for me! People have asked for these videos because everyone doesn't have social media. I had fun making these for you and we had a great response. I couldn't have done it without the help of my wonderful wife, Autumn. Thank you so much Autumn.
Proud to be a Lobo,

Let's Celebrate National School Counselors' Week!
During National School Counselors’ Week, we celebrate the dedication, kindness, and patience of our school counselors. Thank you for guiding us academically, emotionally, and personally, and for always being there when we need someone to talk to. We love our counselors!
Our Heroes!
We talked about heroes last week and we found some of our very own right here in Levelland ISD! These guys don't even wear capes, but they carry big shovels. Our Maintenance and Grounds crews were out early in the morning and all throughout the day, working in the frigid temperatures to scrape snow from campus walkways to keep them safe for our students and staff. We appreciate these guys more than we can say. It truly takes a village, and we’re grateful these heroes choose Levelland ISD every day!
"C"ooking!
ABC Littles in Mrs. Torres’ class had a fun morning visiting the cafeteria and experiencing being a chef and cooking before our winter storm. This went along with their Lesson about the letter C. What a fun experience for these kiddos! Thank you Mrs. Torres, for giving your kids the best experiences!
Out in Space
LMS students Mrs. C. Sanders’ class just finished an exciting unit on Earth and space! They wrapped up the unit with some amazing, out-of-this-world Solar System diorama projects. Students created hands-on models of the solar system and proudly presented what they learned to the class. These projects showcased their creativity, effort, and growing understanding of our solar system. We are so proud of their hard work! Great job LMS kids!
LHS Choir News
LHS Choir Director Joshua Ballard shares that his two girls did not advance past Area, but he adds, "They represented Levelland High School with grace! Their discipline and extra work has made an impact on the entire choir. The choir and I are extremely proud of their accomplishments!" MJ writes, "I was nervous at my audition, but the other girls were very supportive. They helped with my nerves. It was really fun, and I made a lot of friends. Even though I didn't make it, I'm glad I went." And Paula writes, "This was my second year going to the area auditions, and I can feel just how much I've improved since. I am very proud of how I did, and the experience was long but very rewarding. I got to spend time with my friends and learn from them. Although it just ended, I am very excited for next year!" We are proud of you, too girls! Keep working!
Go and Get with Rex Scavenger Hunt
ABC Littles had a wonderful time at the library with librarian Mrs. Swain! She read Go and Get with Rex, a selection from the Texas Library Association’s 2x2 Reading List. The story focuses on letter recognition and playful vocabulary, keeping our Littles engaged and excited about reading. After the read-aloud, students took part in a Go and Get scavenger hunt, using numbers and letters to spell a mystery word from the book. What a fun way to reinforce early literacy skills! We are so proud that our LISD librarians use high-quality programming to spark a love of voluntary reading at such a young age. The Texas 2x2 list is a librarian-reviewed collection of 20 outstanding read-alouds, and we know Mrs. Swain will continue to share these great books and many more engaging activities to inspire our Littles to love reading.
Community Connections
NHS "Stay Warm" Initiative
Our LHS National Honor Society delivered a huge basket of cozy socks to the residents of Hickory Terrace last week in the frigid temperatures. The NHS Executive Community selected “Stay Cozy” as the January community service initiative. We are grateful to all NHS members who donated and helped make so many residents happy....and warm!
SPORTS
PACK Tennis Steps Up
LHS really does have the best kids! Our PACK Tennis Team jumped in and cleared the snow off their courts while our maintenance and grounds crews were busy clearing the walks on our campuses. We are so thankful for students who take pride in their facilities (and maybe just wanted an excuse to play in the snow ). Either way, we are proud of our amazing athletes and send out a thank you!
Powerlifting success!
PACK Tennis Success
LHS Pack Tennis Coaches Braziel and Lawson share great news about our tennis team! Coach Braziel says, "Man what a way to open up the Spring season for the PACK Tennis team! On Thursday our JV were in Big Spring where they battled the cold and wind for most of the day. That didn't stop them from bringing home some hardware:
Paula Castellanos second place girls singles,
Abril Perez third place girls singles,
Uriah Arenivas/Esperanza Acosta second place girls doubles,
Yarel Hernandez /Adayith Muro & Stephanie Sanchez/Maria Perez will be playing for third at practice next week,
and Sebastian Quezada/Jayden Olivas Consolation Champions (this was after some line up changes and they were thrown together that morning).
While on Friday our Varsity had a last minute change of plans due to the ice, and played in Big Spring instead of Lubbock. Our athletes battled through cold, large wait times and some tough competition. Bringing home 3 medals:
Nathan Ellis and Fabiola Hernandez took second in Mixed doubles, after falling just short in the championship in three sets to a really strong Big Spring team,
Daisy Perez and Deigo Franco took third in Mixed Doubles, dropping a close one 8-5 to the eventual champions,
and William Canon and Brady Houston took third in Boys doubles, after falling to a tough Brownfield team in the semis.
Overall we are beyond proud of the adaptability and drive each and every player showed in the first set of tournaments for the Spring season." Way to go Tennis Team, keep up the great work!
