September News
September is here!
We had a great first 9 days of school in Aug. Thank you for getting kids to school on time, I know the 8:00 start is earlier than in the past, it doesn't seem like a lot of time but it does make a difference. As a reminder, please check times below. The early dismissal of Friday now being at 1:00 thank you for picking kids up on time there. The 45 minute difference does make a difference.
Kids have been working hard, they hit the ground running and I am proud of them for that. It's hard to get routine going. You can help your students at home by reminding them that if an adult asks them to do something they should do it. No is not an option, an adult here would never ask them to do something that harms them so there would be no reason why you would tell a teacher no. Tying shoes, eating with utensils, using manners are all a part of daily lives that students should be able to handle. Most do that quite well.
Teachers are BAS reading testing with your student one on one, this give the teacher time with your child to really get to know their reading habits and struggles. We are also completing STAR testing so students know what independent reading level books that can successfully read; and Fast Bridge testing. All these pieces help our teachers zero in on what your student needs to succeed in the classroom.
Finally, this year's Homecoming is quite early. The week of September 14th we will celebrate with dress up days and end with the Homecoming parade at 11:45. If you would like to take your student to the parade as a family, we ask that you pick them up by 11:00. After that it becomes a bit chaotic as we will take sack lunches to the park, and head to the parade after that.
School starts at 8:00 am sharp.
Breakfast 7:40-8:00
Dismissal 3:20pm (Monday - Thursday)
Dismissal FRIDAY 1:00pm

There is a lot to do every night, teachers understand busy family schedules. Please make sure there is down time for your kids, allow them to quietly read and study their spelling words and get to bed at a reasonable time. They are growing and eating a lot!
