Current Orchestra Information!
We have had a great start to our year and we want to keep the momentum up!
Please encourage your students to take their instruments home and practice! Students are also encouraged to join us for DS class at the end of the day to practice. Please remind them that this is an option and is valuable time!
All-State Orchestra Information
When- Recorded auditions due by November 15th (If you make it in, rehearsal and performance is February 19th-20th)
Please send audition footage (or have Mr. Petersen record it) by Friday November 13 so I have time to submit!
Where- Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls
Cost- $15 audition fee
Benefits from auditioning- Everyone! Challenging yourself to grow and compete against all 6th-8th grade orchestra students in South Dakota is a great opportunity
Lincoln High School Orchestra students have offered extra help to those interested in auditioning. The sign up for this can be found in Canvas, emails, and RIGHT HERE. This is a free opportunity for help, please consider!
Everyone who auditions is welcome to an ice cream party held during DS in the Orchestra Room on Monday, November 16th
8th Graders
Parents will receive an email with more information regarding the 8th Grade Side-By-Side performance from the High School Directors. Keep your eyes on this.

This is a great opportunity to get to know your future orchestra director and fellow orchestra musicians. Attire is all black as normal.
Strings Attached
-We are looking for a few more violinists if anyone is still interested!
-We are currently working on 3 pieces - The Hunger Games, A Million Dreams, and The James Bond Theme. We plan to add another piece before our first concert!
Pulling Strings
-We would love to have more violins and bassists! Currently we have 9 violins and 2 basses. Please consider reaching out and joining!
-Rehearsals are Wednesday's and Friday's during DS.
-If you have other obligations during those times, we can work with you and your schedule to participate!
6th-8th Grade Orchestra
Our first concert is December 10th in the PH main gym!
Concert attire - All Black, including shirts, pants, dresses, socks, and shoes!
