Bowlesburg Spotlight
Girls on the Run is so much fun!
We are thrilled to spotlight the fantastic achievements of our Girls on the Run program at Bowlesburg Elementary! Our dedicated girls in grades 3 and 4 met twice a week this season, focusing on essential life skills, building confidence, and preparing to make a difference in our community.
The culmination of their running efforts was a successful finish at the Village Zombie Run in the Village of East Davenport on October 25th! Beyond the finish line, the girls also completed a heartfelt community impact project: welcoming home the Quad City Honor Flight veterans as they returned to the Quad City airport. What a tremendous way to show gratitude and good citizenship!
This terrific organization is possible thanks to the commendable dedication and effort of our coaches: Mrs. Docherty, Mrs. Link, and Mrs. Anderson. Their commitment to our students is truly appreciated. We also extend a sincere thank you to the many staff members, supportive families and our principal, Mr. Fairweather, whose support is vital to making this inspiring program a reality.
Congratulations to all the girls for a season of achievement, teamwork, and making a positive impact!

Supporting Your Student At Home
YES! I CAN!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new award system designed to celebrate and encourage the achievements and positive behaviors at Bowlesburg Elementary school. This initiative aims to foster a supportive and motivating learning environment where every student feels recognized for their unique contributions.
The Purpose of the New Award System
Our primary goal is to cultivate a culture of recognition and appreciation among our students. By acknowledging both academic achievements and positive social interactions, we hope to inspire students to strive for excellence in all areas of their school life. This system is designed to:
- Motivate students to achieve their personal best.
- Encourage positive behavior and social responsibility.
- Recognize diverse talents and efforts across different domains.
Its aim is to enhance an already existing positive behavior intervention school-wide system (PAWSitive rewards, classroom celebrations, and quarterly celebrations).
The goals will coincide with our Otus work habits. The Otus work habits are on every report card.
How the Award System Works
Teachers and staff will regularly observe and note students accurately displaying the expected work habit of the week. At this point the student will receive a “Yes! I Can!” ticket. At the end of week, three student from each grade will be selected randomly through a drawing. A medal reward will be presented and the students will receive a VIP lunch.
We are excited to implement this new system and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our school community. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in nurturing our students' success.
