A Fresh Start in 2026

Happy New Year!

As we begin the new year, we are excited to refocus and renew our commitment to student success as we enter the 2nd half of the school year. This is a perfect time to set fresh goals, strengthen daily routines, and work together to help every child reach their full potential.

This time of year, we place a strong emphasis on academic growth and consistent attendance. Every day in the classroom truly matters, and when students are present, prepared, and engaged, great things happen.

Here are three simple tips to help your child start 2026 strong:

1. Make attendance a top priority.
Try to schedule appointments outside of school hours when possible and encourage your child to be at school on time every day. Each lesson builds on the last, and missing even one day can create learning gaps.

2. Create a nightly learning routine.
Set aside 15–20 minutes each evening for reading, reviewing homework, or practicing math facts. Consistent, quiet study time builds confidence and reinforces classroom learning.

3. Talk about school every day.
Ask your child what they learned, what they are proud of, and what they may need help with. These daily conversations show your child that school matters and that you are their biggest supporter.

Thank you for your continued partnership and dedication.

Warm regards,
Kristie B. Autrey

📝 Absence Reporting Protocol:

If a student must miss school, here are the following guidelines:

  • A written excuse, signed by a parent or guardian, must be presented to the student's teacher on the day they return after an absence.

  • For absences due to extended illnesses or students who have missed more than ten days of school, a statement from a healthcare practitioner may be required.
