Northview Familia, Northview Familia,

We have so many great things this week at Northview. Please check out our RetroFest on Wednesday, April 17. We are in the process of electing a new Student Board member -- please speak to your son/daughter about this amazing opportunity. Ms. Corona, our incredible AVID Coordinator, was recognized at a recent Clippers game as part of their Teacher Appreciation celebration. Congratulations Ms. Corona! We have our district Health and Wellness Fair on Thursday, April 18. We will have several community partners and resources to support our families. We can't wait to see you there.

At our District Board Meeting, we celebrated the amazing work of 12 Vikings in their Visual and Performing Arts courses. See picture below. Also, the Board of Education officially appointed Mr. Oscar Ramirez as Northview's Assistant Principal based on the recommendation of our teachers and staff. Congratulations, Mr. Ramirez!

Have a great week, Vikings!

April is here, and it's the perfect time to embrace the outdoors, practice self-care, and spread joy! With National Garden Month, Keep America Beautiful Month, and National Wildlife Week, there are plenty of opportunities to connect with nature and make a positive impact on the environment. Whether it's planting flowers, cleaning up a local park, or learning about wildlife conservation, let's do our part to preserve and beautify our surroundings.

April isn't just about the outdoors—it's also Stress Awareness Month, National Volunteer Month, National Poetry Month, National Humor Month, and National Autism Acceptance Month. Let's take this opportunity to prioritize our mental health, lend a helping hand to those in need, express ourselves through poetry, find moments of laughter and joy in our daily lives, and celebrate the unique strengths and talents of individuals on the autism spectrum.

One way to support National Autism Acceptance Month is by educating ourselves and others about autism spectrum disorders and promoting acceptance and inclusion in our communities. We can learn about the experiences of individuals with autism, challenge stereotypes and misconceptions, and advocate for policies and practices that create a more inclusive society for everyone.

Here are a few ideas to make April a fun, healthy, and inclusive month:

  • Take a nature walk or hike to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors.

  • Volunteer at a local community garden, park cleanup, or wildlife sanctuary.

  • Write poetry or keep a journal to express your thoughts and emotions.

  • Practice stress-relief techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, or yoga.

  • Share jokes, funny stories, or memes with friends and family to spread laughter and positivity.

  • Educate yourself and others about autism spectrum disorders and promote acceptance and inclusion in your community.

Let's make the most of April by embracing the beauty of nature, taking care of ourselves and others, and creating a more inclusive and accepting world for everyone.

AVID Future Ready AVID Future Ready

Our AVID students have now heard back from the UC’s! Congratulations to Laylanie Revelez for being accepted to UCLA! Many others in the AVID senior class have been admitted to UCR, UCI, UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barbara, UC Merced, and waitlisted to UCSD. We are so proud of our AVID seniors. Getting accepted into the prestigious University of California system is a great honor and accomplishment.

Keep in mind seniors, waitlisted is not a rejection, it just means they want you but they do not have enough space to offer you admission just yet; as soon as other students begin to decline admission, they they will reach out to you with an acceptance. Remember, to accept the “waitlist offer” if you are willing to wait. In other words, accept admission to another school and also accept the waitlist offer. In most cases, you will have to pay a deposit when accepting an offer. If you decide later to accept your waitlist offer , the deposit will be non- refundable. If you have questions about making a college decision, find your counselor , Mrs. Corona, visit the career center, or ask an AVID student.

We are beyond thrilled to announce Mr. Oscar Ramirez as our new "Official" Assistant Principal! He has been doing a stellar job as interim this year, but now he can officially call his spot home.

Mr. Ramirez has been our Biology teacher here at Northview since 2017. He was also an AVID coordinator, Science Department Chair, and assisted with coaching as well. He was a master at building relationships with students and staff alike so it is no wonder he was an ideal candidate for this position.

Mr. Ramirez is a die-hard Dodger fan and a food connoisseur! He and his wife enjoy cooking together and trying at the new local hot spots.

Congrats again Mr. Ramirez. The View is excited for your new venture!
