2nd Grade Newsletter
November 10-14
Hello 2nd Grade Families,
It’s been a great week full of learning here on the ranch!
Students had fun continuing their 3D solid explorations in Math while practicing their academic vocabulary.
In ELAR, we’ve started a new genre study, nonfiction! Students are learning how to research, take notes, and organize their facts into a research paper. Ask them what topic they’re exploring. They’ve been so excited to share their discoveries!
We discussed the significance of landmarks and celebrations in our community, state, and nation in Social Studies. They also learned about the roles of public officials and how good citizenship is exemplified by participation in government.
In Science, we took our understanding of sound to a new level by exploring volume and discussing why sound is such an important part of our world.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us. It is a true joy learning with them each day!

Art
Our school is participating in a creative fundraiser with Art to Remember that allows you to purchase keepsake products customized with your child’s art. There are over 60 products and many are less than $20. These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Click on the link below and enter the online order code shown on your child’s order form or to search for your child’s artwork. Then, have fun shopping! SHOP HERE
Also, we know your children love ART class and letting their creativity flow, so please help Mrs. Greer!
- If you have any left over holiday or winter napkins, please donate to ART.
Announcements
If you are dropping off your child’s lunch, please make sure to bring it NO LATER than 12:00 PM.
We truly appreciate your help in making sure every child has a stress-free and smooth lunchtime. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
- Please make sure your child is not bringing any toys to school. Several students are taking their Labubus off their backpacks and playing with them throughout the day or taking them to Specials. These items need to be left at home. Thank you!
- Along with weekly Phonics practice, have your child read something of their choice for 20 minutes a night or 100 minutes for the week. Please see the Take Home Support pictured here for more guidance on At-Home Phonics activities. This paper is also located in each student's purple folder.
- Your student is now expected to type in their own username and password to log in to their chromebook. Log in to Skyward to find their username and password and help them memorize it at home!
- Please be sure to bring a labeled water bottle and healthy snack daily.
- Please check Take Home folders each week for teacher communication regarding classroom behavior and to empty contents.
