Happy Friday Hawkins,

This has been a rough week for me as I have been in a battle with pneumonia and it is winning. I am so thankful for my staff for the way they have stepped in to help. I have tried to stay connected with families when issues have come up, but if something was missed, please reach out. Just a reminder, second trimester report cards are viewable in parent connect.

I loved seeing all the Mystery Readers come in. The kids love this and it is a great way to connect with your children and their education. One issue I want to address is stuffed animals and similar distractions in the classroom. Lately, mostly at the upper grades, we have seen a surge in students bringing stuffed animals to school. As the number has grown, and they are taking them everywhere, I made the decision this week that they were not allowed unless it was a special day assigned by the teacher. I am okay with the little items that are key chains attached to backpacks, as long as they stay on their backpacks. I am going to extend this to items like cat ears and tails, as they are a distraction. Please encourage your children to leave these items at home.

Dr. Outlaw came to talk to the staff about the bond and what it means not only for the district, but for Hawkins specifically. Please take advantage of the information included in the newsletter to stay informed and please get out and vote. I hope you have a great weekend. I am planning on staying on my couch watching basketball, and hoping this cough goes away and I can get some sleep. Thanks to all our amazing families and all you do to make this such a special place.

Mr. McAuliffe

Brighton High School Musical Theatre Presents Disney’s Frozen

Brighton High School Musical Theatre Presents Disney’s Frozen March 13–22, 2026

BRIGHTON, Mich. (Feb. 3, 2026) — For the first time in forever, experience the musical phenomenon that has taken the world by storm as Brighton Musical presents Disney’s Frozen, with seven performances March 13–22, 2026, at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts.

Based on the Academy Award®–winning animated feature film, Disney’s Frozen includes all the film’s beloved songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, along with new music written exclusively for the stage.

In the beautiful mountainous kingdom of Arendelle, princesses Anna and Elsa grow up sheltered inside their castle, isolated from the world and increasingly distant from each other. When Elsa is crowned queen, the magical powers she’s desperately tried to conceal from her sister take control, and she flees into the mountains. As a ferocious winter descends on Arendelle, Anna sets off on an epic journey to find Elsa and bring her home — with the help of hardworking ice harvester Kristoff, his loyal reindeer Sven, and a happy-go-lucky snowman named Olaf.

Full of magic, humor, and a stunning musical score, Frozen is a powerful tale of sisterhood, acceptance, and finding the true meaning of love.

Just-In-Case Clothes Just-In-Case Clothes

Please make sure your child has an extra set of clothes in their backpack. Accidents happen while your child is at school (bathroom accidents, playground mishaps, lunchroom spills, ripped or torn clothes, etc.) and we do not have extra clothes to lend out. Having an extra set here at school saves parents from having to make a trip to Hawkins during the day. We appreciate your help!
