Giving Tuesday
5 Ways to Give Back to and through Ross
Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday! As you think about where to give your time and resources, here are five powerful ways to support the Ross community—at school and beyond.
#1: Help Us Gift Joy to Ross Students 🎁
The Ross Mental Health Team is supporting families in need this holiday season—and we need your help! We’re aiming to raise $1,000 so every Ross student in need receives holiday gifts and essentials. A generous Ross family is matching the first $500—your impact goes twice as far!
➡️ Give your tax-deductible donation here.
#2: Donate Food for Food for All 🍎
On Saturday, Dec. 6, Ross students and families will pack grocery bags for Food for All, a nonprofit delivering food to low-income, homebound neighbors across DC. We urgently need food donations this week.
➡️ Sign up here and drop off your donations. Don't have time to shop and drop off? Venmo your contribution to @Melanie-Mayhew by Thursday and the PTA will buy groceries on your behalf. Any collected money that exceeds grocery needs will be donated to Food for All.
➡️ We also need volunteers to help set up and drivers to deliver the packed bags just a few blocks to Food for All. Sign up here to volunteer.
#3: Chip in for Teacher & Staff Holiday Gifts ✨
Room parents are collecting funds for holiday gift cards for teachers and assigned staff. Participation is optional—give whatever works for your family. (Many families give $50–$100 total, but any amount is welcome.)
➡️ Please give contributions to your room parents by December 12. Not sure who your room parent is? Email PTApresident@rosselementary.org.
#4: Bring the Ross History Exhibit to Life 🏛️
Ross students are diving into a year-long project with The Story of Our Schools to uncover the school’s history through research, interviews, walking tours, and more. Their work will become a permanent, museum-quality exhibit installed at Ross in fall 2026. (See more info linked below.)
➡️ Click here to make a tax-deductible contribution. Every donor—family, individual, or organization—will be listed on the exhibit’s permanent plaque.
🌟 Kid-led volunteer opportunity! Sign up here to join us Dec. 14 in Dupont Circle as Ross students raise awareness and encourage community contributions. It’s a great way for kids to show Ross pride and build public-speaking confidence.
#5: Pitch in on Ross Super Saturday!🌲
Super Saturday is almost here—and we still need helping hands! Join us for the tree sale, bake sale, book sale, or our student wreath-making station. It’s a fun, festive way to support Ross. ✨
Need a Hand?
If your family could use support, please reach out to Natalie Elmore, Ashlee Adams, and Jillian Sharkey for assistance and resources.
