Thank you!

As this school year comes to a close, so does my two-year journey as Tawanka Elementary's Coordinator of Student Affairs. This position was designed as a two-year administrative internship experience, providing educators with the opportunity to learn and grow in school leadership. While I knew from the beginning that my time in this role would be temporary, I never imagined how much these two years would mean to me.

To our students: thank you for doing your best each day to be respectful, responsible, and safe. Were there moments when reminders were needed? Absolutely. But together, we learned, grew, laughed, and worked through challenges. I am incredibly proud of each of you and grateful for the opportunity to be part of your elementary school journey.

To our parents and families: thank you for trusting us with your children every day. Thank you for believing that every conversation, decision, and action came from a place of wanting what was best for your child. I especially appreciate your patience and grace as I learned "on the fly" in a role that was new to me. Your partnership has been invaluable.

To our incredible PTO: thank you for the countless hours you dedicate behind the scenes. Many of the events, celebrations, and opportunities that make Tawanka such a special place simply would not happen without your dedication and support. Your impact reaches every student and staff member in our building.

To our teachers and staff: thank you for your trust, encouragement, and support. You welcomed me into this role, shared your expertise, offered guidance when needed, and helped me grow both professionally and personally. I am a better educator and leader because of each of you.

And finally, a special thank you to everyone who never had to meet with me in my office. In many ways, that was probably a sign that things were going exceptionally well! If your child never came home saying, "I had to talk to Mr. Maloney today," then congratulations—you were likely doing something right. Of course, some of my favorite interactions came from those meetings, too, and I am grateful for every student and family I had the opportunity to support.

As I prepare for the next chapter, I leave with a full heart. These past two years have been among the most rewarding of my career. The relationships I have built, the lessons I have learned, and the memories we have created together will stay with me for years to come.

Thank you, Tawanka, for allowing me to be a small part of your story. It has truly been an honor to serve this remarkable community.

With gratitude,

James Maloney
Coordinator of Student Affairs
Tawanka Elementary School

Tawanka Fun Run

What an incredible day at Tawanka Elementary! Our students had an amazing time participating in this year's Fun Run fundraiser. Throughout the event, students ran laps, danced to music, completed fun challenges, and cheered one another on while demonstrating outstanding school spirit and enthusiasm.

Thanks to the generosity of our families, friends, and community members, we are thrilled to announce that the Fun Run raised an incredible $18,790! These funds will directly support student experiences during the 2026-2027 school year, helping to fund field trips and classroom extension opportunities that enrich learning beyond the classroom walls.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our PTO for organizing this fantastic event, our staff and volunteers for their support, and our families for encouraging our students every step of the way. Most importantly, thank you to our students for bringing so much energy, excitement, and joy to the day.

The Fun Run was a wonderful reminder of what we can accomplish when the Tawanka community comes together. Thank you for helping make this event such a tremendous success! Check out some pictures in the slideshow below.

Wild About Reading Summer Reading Challenge 2026

Keep young minds growing this summer! To help prevent the “Summer Slide,” Neshaminy School District encourages all students entering grades 1-4 this coming fall, to read at least 15 minutes a day. In June, students will receive access to the Summer Reading Canvas Course and a reading tracker. Families can explore book lists, resources, and the Summer Reading Challenge online, including free eBooks through Sora. Students who return their completed reading tracker in September will be invited to a special reading celebration. Happy reading and have a safe, relaxing summer!
