This honor highlights what happens when dedicated staff, hardworking students, and supportive families work together to ensure every Eagle learns and grows.
To celebrate this designation, Preschool-5th grade students will enjoy a popsicle on Tuesday. It will be a standard popsicle. If you would like something different for your child, please let me know: Stacy Johnston- sjohnston@sd13.org

Connection Card Survey
Students will be taking the Connection Card Survey next week which asks the below questions. We use the results of this survey to help develop connections for students with adult or peer mentors. We also use the results to plan fun events for students. This is a way to check in with students to make sure everyone feels happy and safe while at school.
- Do you have friends at school
- Is there a teacher or grown up in the building that you can talk with? A teacher or grown up that will listen to you and help you while at school?
- Do you feel like you belong or are included at Erickson?
- Do you know what it means to SOAR at Erickson?
- Please name one SOAR expectation below.
- What do you like about Erickson?
- What would make Erickson better?
- What would you like your classroom teacher or the school to know about you?
Veterans Day Invitation
Picture Day Information ~ Picture Retakes November 5th from 8:00-10:00am
- Parents received email images from Color Portraits around October 7th from picture Day. You can order your pictures directly from the site to be sent to your home or the school.
- Picture retakes will be on November 5th from 8-10:00 at Erickson. Please let your classroom teacher know if your child will be taking retakes. If your child attends school ONLY in the PM (PMkinder or PMpreschool) and you would like to have your child's picture retaken, please bring your child to school on November 5th between 8-10:00am. Please let the office know that you will be coming: eroffice@sd13.org so we can plan for your arrival.
- ALL students that were absent on the original Picture Day, September 23, will have their pictures taken on November 5th.
Some frequently asked questions about Picture Day/Retake photos:
- Is there a sign-up form for Picture Retake Day or how does a parent communicate interest in a Retake? The office has a list of students that were absent on Picture Day. These students will automatically get their picture taken on November 5th. If your child was not absent, but you would like your child to retake their picture, notify your teacher. Then your child's name will be added to the retake list.
- What if I don't like the photos from the Picture Retake Day? Can I opt for a photo from the 9/23 Picture Day for the yearbook or will the Retake photo be used? The retake photo on November 5 will be used.
- When do the 9/23 Picture Day photos expire for purchase? You can order pictures from 9/23 or 11/5 for yourself anytime during the school year. The link will not "expire" until June.
CoGat Assessment
We want to inform you that students in Grades 1 through 5 will be participating in the Cognitive Abilities Test (CoGAT) next week. This assessment is administered annually and helps us gain a comprehensive view of your child’s learning profile.
What is the CoGAT?
The CoGAT is not an achievement test that measures what a student has learned in class (like a traditional grade-level test). Instead, it measures a student's cognitive reasoning abilities in three areas:
Verbal Reasoning: Understanding and relating concepts expressed through language.
Quantitative Reasoning: Understanding quantitative concepts and relationships.
Nonverbal Reasoning: Solving problems using geometric shapes and figures.
Results from the assessment helps us understand how your child learns best and their innate potential for problem-solving and reasoning.
The CoGAT is a key component of our comprehensive data review for students in the upper grades. Specifically, the scores from the CoGAT are used as one of several data points to help identify students who qualify for our Accelerated Math and Reading program in third, fourth, and fifth grade.
There is no preparation needed for this test. The students will take the test over the course of three days. Each day the test is approximately 45 minutes in length.
