Unity Day is on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, and is a day to show support for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion by wearing orange. It is a national initiative that aims to send a visible message against bullying, and it's often celebrated in schools and communities across the country.

How to participate

  • Wear orange: The simplest way to show support is to wear orange from head to toe.
  • Spread the message: Participate in events and assemblies that raise awareness about bullying prevention.
  • Promote kindness and acceptance: Stand up against bullying and promote positive behaviors in your community and online.
  • Share your experiences: Sharing your own experiences with bullying can inspire others and help stop it.

Safety Drills

We successfully completed 4 fire drills last week, your students did great.

We practice so that if we have a real emergency, our students are prepared. Each year we need to conduct:

  • Fire Drills
  • Lock Down Drills
  • Early Release Drill
  • Shelter in place Drills

Please reassure your student that these drills are to practice, and nothing to be afraid of.

As the family of a WCCS student, you play a vital role in the success of our community school. Your voice, involvement, and partnership help shape a school environment where every child feels supported, valued, and ready to learn. Whether it's through sharing ideas, attending events, or working with teachers and staff, your engagement strengthens the connection between school, family, and community. Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey and ensure your voice is heard.

School Transportation

Transportation is controlled by BPS, and if you have questions you can reach out to them directly with questions. In order to build the routes for our buses BPS takes all students at the school into consideration, and gives each student who is more than .7 miles away a bus route. If you receive a letter from Buffalo with a bus route, and you do not want your child to ride that bus, please let the school know. If you don't tell us to not put them on the bus, we will be putting them on the bus. A simply call to the office, or note sent into the teacher is enough to make sure we do not put them on the bus.

If you want to make a change for a particular day, please make sure you have contacted the school or teacher by 12:30. Changes called in after that may not be abled to be processed in time.

Car Riders/Pick Ups

If you need to pick up your child early, you must do so before 1:30. No child will be released from 1:30 until 2:00 pm.

You must utilize our school pass number system for picking up your students. If you do not have a number please contact your child's teacher or the office so we can get you your students number. Please do not come into the office to request your child, unless you have not been given a school pass number.

Walkers

All walkers are released at 2:00 pm. Students need to walk on Westminster when they leave the building. Due to the buses being on East Amherst we want to ensure our students are safe as they walk home, and with the buses it can be dangerous.
