MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

CHS Community,

It's been another busy and eventful week here at Chardon High School. We've been working diligently with our seniors and staff to finalize plans for graduation ceremonies and related activities. It's an exciting time of year, and we're looking forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our graduating class.

We're also busy preparing for the 2025-26 school year and will soon be starting the scheduling process. Information about course selection and registration will be coming home soon, so please keep an eye out for those details.

Unfortunately, like many in our community, we've seen an increase in illness among both students and staff this week. We appreciate the flexibility and support of our families, and we're especially grateful for our dedicated staff and substitute teachers who are working hard to ensure continuity in the classroom.

And then, of course, there was the unexpected ice storm!

Looking ahead, we're also in the midst of planning for upcoming PSAT and ACT testing. We will share more information about test dates, registration deadlines, and preparation resources in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your continued support of Chardon High School.

TESTING DAY - MARCH 11th

Mark your calendars! On March 11th, students will be participating in important testing. Here's what each grade level needs to know:

  • 8th and 9th Grade: You will be taking the PSAT. Be sure to get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast.
  • 10th and 11th Grade: You will be taking the ACT. This is a valuable opportunity to prepare for college admissions. Come prepared and ready to do your best.
  • 12th Grade (Seniors): You will have a Career Day. Mrs. Patterson has posted information about two different assignment options for this day in the Class of 2025 Google Classroom. Please check the Google Classroom to choose and complete your assignment.

Also on this day, ALL STUDENTS will be finalizing their schedules for the 2025-26 school year. Course lists will be sent home with students on March 04.

FROM THE CLINIC

This is a friendly reminder regarding our fever-free recommendation for student attendance, which aligns with CDC guidelines.

We recommend that if your child has or has had a fever, they should not return to school until they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications (such as Tylenol, Advil, Ibuprofen, Dayquil, etc.). This helps prevent the spread of illness and ensures the well-being of all our students and staff.

ATTENDANCE

Third quarter often sees a dip in student attendance. This can be due to various factors, but consistent attendance is essential for learning. Even a few missed days can impact progress.

We understand illnesses happen. But please prioritize getting your child to school whenever possible. Your support in combating the typical third-quarter slump is vital.

Let's work together to keep our students engaged and learning all year long! Contact us with any attendance concerns.

SENIOR HANDBOOK 2025

BOOK CLUB BOOK CLUB

zoom_out_map

Chardon High School AP Literature students have partnered with Chardon-area senior citizens to start a book club.

The students and seniors chose titles and each group is reading a different book. This partnership last occurred in 2020, when the club read Salt to the Sea by Ruta Septys.

“Every time we get seniors and seniors together it is a really positive experience for all,” Madelon Horvath, one of the organizers of the club, said. “The folks I did talk to really enjoyed the experience and are so impressed with the maturity and welcoming attitude of the students.”

The students have greatly enjoyed getting together for the book club. They said they appreciate the added perspectives the senior citizens bring to their reading.

"They know so much about everything going on in the world which helped us understand more about the world of our book,” one student said.

The club’s first meeting was Feb. 10, and it will run through March 7.
