Georgia Milestones begin on Thursday, April 23

Georgia law requires that all students in grades 3–8 take the Georgia Milestones: End of Grade (EOG) in the content areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics. In addition, students in grade 5 will take Science, and students in grade 8 will take Science and Social Studies.

It is imperative that students attend school each day and arrive on time so they will not miss any sections of this important assessment. The schedule for the administration of the EOG in the DeKalb County School District is listed below. Click here for GA Milestones resources for students and parents.

Morning Arrival

A reminder that the carpool line at LC ends at 8am. All cars entering the lot after 8am will need to park and come into the Community building to sign in their child. Thank you to everyone who has been arriving at carpool a little earlier. It has been a great week!

An afternoon of poetry!

Second grade students from Sra. Tarazona’s class and fourth grade students from Sra. Alvarado’s class enjoyed a poetry afternoon, where both groups wrote their own poems and had the opportunity to read them to each other. It was a meaningful experience that encouraged creativity, oral expression, and connection between students from different grade levels.

Family Literacy Night, Thursday, May 14, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm

Join us for a special evening celebrating the stories, languages, and voices that make our community extraordinary. We'll have a special author visit, dinner generously provided by PTCC, and hands-on activity stations where families can create books together, share songs and rhymes from home, and celebrate language and literacy.

Lower Campus Clinic

Regardless of age, every child at Lower Campus should have a change of clothes in their backpack, including socks and underwear. The clinic stocks limited sizes in limited quantities. If your child is muddy or dirty and needs a change of clothes from the clinic, you will likely receive a call to either bring clothes or pick up your student.

As it gets warmer, the air quality can decrease due to pollen and molds. If your student has allergies, the recommended time to start an allergy medication is now. Please ensure that your student feels well enough to actually be in school.

Please be on the lookout for lice. It is spring and therefore we should expect an uptick in ALL the bugs, including our clean hair loving friends! If you find live lice on your child's head, they must be successfully treated before returning to school. The lice policy can be found on page 17 of the Student and Family Handbook.

Returning books on time helps us keep our collection complete and ready for next year’s readers.Thank you for supporting our library and helping students build responsible borrowing habits. Please reach out to Ms. Stowe with any questions.
